  1. Please include opening the case to swap out the SSD drives, and reveal if your 8TB Sabrent drives work properly.
  2. How does the power usage translate to performance? Non-linear obviously, but is there a rule of thumb? ie the Dell at 55W CPU and 107W GPU vs GT77 at 75W CPU and 175W GPU
  3. Aaron how do you go about transferring the base system to your new OS drive? Do you clone before first bootup, swap it out and do a clean install, something else?
  4. Do most people go for the SSD door? Seems like it would be nice to clone the drive before booting up the first time. However down the road, it seems like a vulnerability?
  5. The Lenovo P16 has a nice keyboard layout but only two drive slots. The HP Fury G9 has dedicated page up/down/home/end keys. Seems like a nice computer on paper if I can get over my distrust of HP quality that developed sometime in the early 2000s 🙂
  6. Thanks Aaron, that is helpful. I have been looking at various gaming systems but most of them lack more than 2 NVMe slots and almost none of them support double sided drives (Alienware X17 for example). I'm not sure if the GT77 supports them either. As I would be using this new computer for my job, next day support would be really valuable in the case of a failure.
  7. Perhaps off topic, but any thoughts on the new MSI GT77 vs the Dell 7770? GT77 = Probably higher performance, better keyboard/trackpad (for me) Dell = Smaller, better service?
  8. The specs for the 16" say: 16-inch, UHD+ 3840 x 2400, 60Hz, anti-glare, touch, 100% DCIP3, 400 nits, wide-viewing angle, LBL, OLED I have never seen an anti-glare OLED display advertised for a laptop. Perhaps this is a mistake?
  9. I saw that too about the HP, but looking at the downloadable spec sheet it says up to 12 TB which seems like 3 drives rather than 4. The Lenovo P16 is heavy and with only two drives I'm wondering what is going on. It does have a 270W power adapter available, maybe it is a clue?
  10. Ya I was thinking some sort of lap table would be in order. I'm also trying to decide between the 16" and 17" models. As neither are truly portable (like a Microsoft Surface), perhaps it is more about 120hz vs OLED screen? Unfortunately I have used neither to know which one I would prefer.
  11. Hello everybody, new user here. I have been a desktop user for over 30 years, but now due to working in multiple locations I'm seeking a powerful laptop for programming and photo editing. I'm going back and forth between something like the Precision series (6+ pounds) or something much lighter like a Lenovo X1 Carbon Extreme (4 pounds). Is it at all comfortable to use the Precision series on your actual lap, for example sitting on the couch? Or are these more like desktop computers that are easier to move around? 🙂
