Hi! I got my hands on a nearly new AW18 with dual 780M configuration. As this is mint and have been boxed for 8 years I was thinking about upgrading it with only supported hardware to keep it original. Is the 980m the last supported card in sli and is this plug and play? I already have a rtx 3000 upgraded one so I’m only interested in original supported hardware for this one, as it is for display purposes only.

Did you ever resolve this? I also have a 2014 AW18 and was thinking about investing in a card like this, but if it won’t work I can save the money and invest in bigger sata drives instead…

Hi! I recently acquired a very nice m14x R1 and was wondering if the Alienware experts in here know if I can swap out the mobo to a r2 with the 3 series Intel cpu and gt650 from NVIDIA? Or did they do anything chassis wise between these versions? Thanks!

Ah I’m in Europe so all in all it was like 150 usd. And that’s pretty great for a mxm card of this caliber 👍🏻

Hi and thanks for this thread🫶🏻 Undusted my 2014 AW18 with 4700mq and dual 780m. I just bought the 4940mx and a PNY RTX 3000 MXM. I unfortunately can’t find a DDR3 set with 2133mhz anymore in my country. Maybe someone have a good source or eBay? Anyways I will probably ask for help when all parts arrive and I’m doing the bios flash and settings🤣 Happy modding!
