  1. I never noticed it. Thanks for the tip!
  2. Thanks! I was looking at the verified ones and they were all DELL. How do you look at unverified vBIOSes?
  3. As the title says - looking for an 8740w US NON-backlit keyboard. OR I want to swap a used US backlit keyboard (pretty good condition, I have two, this one is less used, almost as new) for a NON-backlit one, straight swap no additional payment. You send me yours, once received I’ll send mine. Where’s the catch? Recently I’ve added a second fan in place of the DVD/BD drive and the backlit keyboard is not perforated in this area, where the non-backlit is, so the second fan can breathe. EDIT: Here are couple of photos of the keyboard, as well as comparison with the non-backlit one (it’s a Nordic one). https://imgur.com/a/r9JI1YY
  4. I did a shunt mod, so yeah I hope that this heatsink would help to keep overclocked temps in check.
  5. Here’s what I did. Once again - Thank you guys! https://imgur.com/a/v2gq5dB I’m yet to test it how effective it is since I’m still working on the electrical part of it. Once I’m done I’ll post a separate topic.
  6. As the title says, looking for a vBIOS dump of one of these GPUs. Thank you very much!
  7. As far as I know the display connector is different. Other than that it should work.
  8. Hey there! Would it be possible for you to make a dump of the ColorBoard’s BIOS, or whatever that chip with the blue dot is? I know that it is quite the hassle, but considering that these boards are unobtainable and there is quite possibly no one else on earth both having the board and capable of dumping the firmware, here’s me asking for your help. Thank you!
  9. Sorry, I don’t think that I can help.
  10. Try nVIDIA Inspector.
  11. Have you tried to bump the voltage?
  12. Couldn’t find the same nearby and already wasted an hour trying to desolder it with heatgun or the soldering iron with no success, so I was like what the heck. No. It was there for a few years driving the external monitor, hence the desktop setup. Should be something like this, but still working on it.
  13. Thanks! I will! Well, it’s in desktop mode, so to say. Haven’t put it together since the 1070 was installed. Now I’m working on making it a laptop again. Here are a couple of pictures and a bonus one of how I “desoldered” the resistor. https://imgur.com/a/bKX9tSW
  14. SUCCESS!!! I can now run well above this limit, spiking at about 300W in Shadow of The Tomb Raider. Got 5~6FPS more @1600p (35FPS avg.) and overall much smoother experience. First section of the benchmark is ~245W from the wall, second ~260W and third ~270W. The 920XM is @3.5GHz 110W all core (up from 2GHz stock) and the 980m is @1263/2885MHz (1038/2505MHz stock) +50mV pulling 160~170W. Now I have to do a proper cooling to match this thing's capabilities. No pictures of the mod at the moment because I was TOO excited to see what happens and forgot. It's basically what everyone does - stack one resistor on top of the other. I used the same resistor. I'm more than happy at the moment. HUGE THANKS to everyone and specially to @JadeRover!
  15. PM me a price if you don’t like this one.
  16. Not sure if anyone got this, but after disassembly (and reassembly) the touchpad and the point stick stopped working, the keyboard was fine. They connect with the same ribbon cable, so it most likely wasn’t it. What turned out to be was this setting in the BIOS. After hitting “Apply” everything was fine.
  17. I’m pretty sure that both use the same display connector. Why? Because both were fitted in the Dragon. Just to be sure you can compare the schematics: N201J4-L01 - WUXGA LP201WE1-TLA1 - WSXGA+ I’m keeping an eye on this.
  18. Yeah, it is half way between DELL M2010 and Acer 9920 and I think a better laptop than both. You got a nice config! What made you sell it? On another note I think that you can upgrade the M2010 with this display, BUT they are unobtainable! Have you considered the MSI GT80? I’m not sure about the display connection though. Waiting to see how this will work out.
  19. Do you know more about it?
  20. That’s a great machine you got there. It was one of my dream machines. I have a few of its “cousin” - HP Pavilion HDX9000. For overclocking have you tried ThrottleStop? Version 6.00 should work. Here’s another great video about it:
  21. From the exploded view it seems that they’ve cut the flat connectors from 3 to 2, maybe that’s the reason for the lane reduction.
  22. I think that I have these, if you are still interested.
  23. Price: €95 Condition: Used Warranty: None Reason for sale: Not compatible with my machine. Payment: PayPal Item location: Bulgaria, Sofia Shipping: Free to EU International shipping: Might consider, PM for price. Handling time: 2 business days Feedback: Bought and sold a few items around here. Specification: This is a standard MXM-A GPU pulled out of HP ZBook 15 G4 (so it would work fine with it). I got it for a project, but it DOESN'T support LVDS, so it's of no use for me. It was tested in DELL Precision 7510 with Optimus ENABLED (it won't work otherwise in this machine). Proof of ownership: Time Stamped pictures https://imgur.com/fB94rgu https://imgur.com/hGJC6tx https://imgur.com/a/qicTDkD
  24. So, it works with reduced channel width (the 30pin)?
  25. It’s for a machine I’m yet to do a mod for. That’s why I’m looking for “this must work”, rather than “this should work”. (I know that with MXM there’s no such thing as “must” until you try it, but at least to be as sure as possible) Whatever info I found about M2200 suggests Optimus is a must. M2000m was less explored (at least I didn’t found much about it), so I decided to give it a shot as well. M5000m/GTX 980m do work with LVDS, that’s why I find it strange that the smaller siblings don’t. EDIT: As for the HP black/whitelist it is hit or miss, 8570w was confirmed working with quite a few GPUs, but most newer ones require DreamColor display to work.
