  1. I wonder if OP has pulled the trigger for the Legion 7? And how well does Linux run on it?
  2. That's actually the Floating Dock extension that also hides itself when there is a window that obstructs the dock, really helps when I need to focus to do some works such as coding or reading documents. I also find it ergonomically to have the dock centered in the bottom of the screen. If the dock is on the far left or on the far right, I find myself moving my neck quite often and easily losing focus. 🙂 Blurring the username because my username is my full name. 😛
  3. I can relate to this. Several weeks ago, my 7560 showed me a blue screen of death and refused to boot into windows 11 due to some mysterious driver unloading issue (attached). I had tried multiple ways to fix it, e.g. startup repair, system restore, safe mode troubleshooting, etc. with no success. Then I decided to do a disk backup followed by a Dell factory reset to get my system back into a fresh working windows 10. Thankfully, I have 2 separated SSDs, one holds the windows partition and the other keeps the linux one. So the reset on the windows partition didn't do any harm to my work directories and data, which are stored in the linux partition. I'm still baffled why these kind of BSOD problems exist in the first place. I wish no one had to factory reset their system like I had to. Edit: forgot to mention that my 7560 has an RTX A4000 and this BSOD seemed an nvidia driver problem (nvpcf.sys). My windows 11 couldn't boot pass the BSOD.
  4. Yeah, PopOS gives the best out-of-the-box linux experience for nvidia, at least for me. Been trying a few distros and DEs over the past few years (for fun and professional purposes) to find myself always come back to PopOS. 🙂
  5. Not as close, but TLP is useful to tweak power consumption profile, adjust CPU freq, switch off turbo-boost (assuming you want to do it like me), etc. esp. when you using a laptop.
  6. Excellent post! Thanks very much @Aaron44126 for all the details and benchmarks! I just wonder if you can share couple of other things (sorry if it's too much to ask :P): A comparison with previous gen, e.g. 7760 or 7560. (I know you have a 7560 at work that's why I ask.). I have a 7560 and wonder if I should upgrade to a 7570. How do you think about the drastic change of the internal design and layout of the 7x70 models? The two fans now sit next to each other instead of situating on the 2 sides. Does that really improve the heat dissipation compared to the previous generation (some stress test required may be)? How did you get the 3080 Ti? 🙂 How much does it cost compared to the available options, e.g. A4500 and A5500? In addition, it'd be great if you could include the specs of your systems on top of your detail post.
  7. Just out of personal curiosity, did you do a systematic test to see the power efficiency using bumblebee vs system76-power (on Pop!OS or a Ubuntu-based distro)? If you did, would you mind sharing your comparison data for power consumption on battery between the two? To be honest, bumblebee is so out-dated and it never seems to work properly for me when I tested it on my personal pc. For my mobile workstation, I only used system76-power because I have been using it for a very long time, and it has worked very well for me. I wrote a short summary of my findings regarding power consumption below: https://github.com/drNoob13/batteryimprove p/s: my apologies for the late response.
  8. Try Pop!OS. It'd give much better experience, esp. with their system76-power to switch the nVidia GPU completely off on battery.
