lol Well, they don't need to lower the price more aggressively to induce sales, because they are shipping most of their stock to data centers is my contention, and I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary. -

I'm just curious where your information regarding Nvidia's current capacity/supply has been sourced from. -
Microsoft Phone? What an unflattering comparison lol MS Phone is dead and buried, whereas Linux completely rules the server side and is extremely competitive as a workstation in certain domains.

MacOS doesn't use, or is even based on Linux kernel. Its kernel is called XNU, and is based on Mach kernel used in Jobs' NeXT computers, with some stuff from BSD incorporated later on.

How is supply not an issue if everyone in the industry says there are not enough chips, and GPU chips specifically. Do you have a link to the precise Nvidia statement we could scrutinise? On the on the other hand, it is true that thanks to the pitiful effort on the GPU side from AMD, Nvidia de facto monopolised high-end GPU space therefore they are in a position to gouge customers undisturbed by meaningful competition. -

Idiotic comment by Tom (typically of late unfortunately). Clearly, if Nvidia had much less demand for their server GPUs, they would allocate manufacturing capacity to gaming GPUs. Prices would then fall due to the increase in supply, as per basic economics. -

At the moment, high GPU prices are caused by ChatGPT (which runs on Nvidia GPUs), essentially owned my Microsoft. By supporting Microsoft (using Microsoft products) people support this, and other consequences of that development. -

Yeah, big tech decided to train the dystopian models on either stolen or open source (which doesn't mean completely free and unrestricted) data. They should be sued to death. Another funny example I heard about today is that one of the image generators started spewing out watermarked Getty images. They say lawyers always win, let's hope it's the good ones this time. -

I hate to report this, but with Nvidia cards at least, GPU performance on Linux is similar to Windows, unlike on the CPU and I/O-side. -
Quite interested in this topic. I primarily use Linux these days, but have to dip to wretched Windoze on regular basis.

Eluktronics Mech 17 GP2 13900HX + 4090 Review
Etern4l replied to win32asmguy's topic in Uniwill (TongFang)
Looks like it's Germany-focused company, don't even have an English version of their website, but basically they install Ubuntu. However, if the underlying hardware is the same, then obviously one can just shrink the default Windows volume on any Mech and dual boot to Linux.- 22 replies

You nailed it there bud - all depends on your circumstances and priorities. Can't have it all in a single device unfortunately. -
Some people worry about advanced AI killing off humanity. I'm more relaxed about this, we are so stupid we will wipe ourselves out first.

Who claims that and in terms of what metrics? MiniLED is a misnomer and a bit of a marketing gimmick - unlike MicroLED, it's still based on LCD. Unlikely to come very close to OLED in terms of image quality. Good improvement over IPS though. -

Quick question: how bad an idea would be to mount one AIO using another AIOs mount/standoffs? Obviously the geometry is the same, and the pump-side fittings look very similar... -

For clarity's sake, what was your query to NVidia? I guess what they are saying is that NVIDIA doesn't offer BIOS updates for FE cards, but not sure how that's relevant to you. -

The internal codename for the CPUs was clear and transparent: "V+Cash". The marketing people firmly objected though. Azor wanted to call these "Bad Boys", but was once again reminded he doesn't work at Alienware anymore. -
Bankman-Fried's lawyers say October trial may need to be delayed I'm disappointed the lawyers didn't say "Right, let's get Sam into the trial, sentenced, and in proper custody ASAP" lol

Was sick and in a mood for a bit of retro so played Amiga "Space Hulk" and "Deuteros". Surprisingly atmospheric, even after 30 years, and fiendishly difficult compared to modern games, which is always good.

Humans do a better job killing other (especially herbivore) animals, which is the only major positive effect of bears on the environment (we can ignore the effect of their crap enriching the soil - humans do that better too anyway). I wouldn't want to be shredded by bears on a hiking trip or have to be on constant lookout for bears around a country house is basically all I'm saying. I'm not even sure you can legally kill those things in self defence (especially outside your property) in some states.

A summary trial by the court of public opinion can sometimes make a difference, even if the odds are not grear: Elon Musk backpedals after mocking disabled Twitter worker in tweet ‘storm’ More form the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-64884287 Mr Musk replied: "Based on your comment, I just did a video call with Halli to figure out what's real vs what I was told. It's a long story. Better to talk to people than communicate via tweet." Hilarious stuff.

I put it too you they were good for the environment when humans weren't around. I bet human hunters can and do a better job.

Well, bro @Papusan tirelessly stepped in to help, as always, and good to know there is a potential hack to send the pump RPM signal back to the mobo, albeit the instructions are indeed far from ideal, and it would be a bit of a Hail Mary exercise on a throwaway unit kind of thing (also taking into account the fact that there are several revisions of the AIO). In the end, my hypothesis is that what's holding the LFII back for me is the small backplate and weak pump. With 6 iPPCs blasting through the radiator, the coolant temp is low enough, you just need to get it moving as fast as possible, and obviously maximise the heat exchange between the coldplate and the liquid (a function of the coldplate area for sure). That's the setup. I was quite taken by the fact that DeepCool has a section in the manual dedicated to this pump-only connection arrangement. I guess (an educated guess based on some Amazon comments) the supplied fans are such that the company is all too happy for people to use their own rather than potentially trigger a fan RMA down the line lol. Well, hopefully I will report back on this sometime over the weekend, should delivery go to plan.
