Yes, it has been darwinian out there, but if you believe people have the right to do what they please with their money, then there is nothing wrong with crypto investments. The idiots, the naive, and the unlucky loose money - the smarter or luckier don't. It's not all very wise, but it's not completely pointless either, if we consider the broader goals such as replacing the traditional financial system and creating an alternative to government-controlled currencies. Outright scams and Ponzi schemes should be prosecuted, rather than the perpetrators being allowed to bask in the limelight. All easier said than done apparently. It's interesting to consider why. Somewhat unusually, he seems to be hugely driven by a grand vision of the utility blockchain can provide to the world, frequently calls out speculation, scams etc. and doesn't seem to care much about the economics of the coin itself (to be fair, he has made so much money he doesn't need to care about that). With more people like him in the field, crypto might stand a chance to achieve something good, as opposed to lining the pockets of SBFs of this world.

Not remotely the same laptop but a similar simple mechanism could be at work: with a BGA AW, UV maximises performance. Without it the CPU would just thermally throttle.

This is different: there is a noticeable gap between the plug and the socket, and the resulting wobble and play were real. The mount wasn't convincingly secure. Once the plug is wrapped in electrical tape (not much, ca. 3 layers), it sits in the socket securely, although there is a tiny bit of extra play of the kind you describe. Again, TBH not ideal product delivery from Corsair, but - given the triviality of the issue - that's bearable in presence of @Mr. Fox's workaround. Most likely an problem with the specific UK C-19 cord they used in this batch. Otherwise delighted with the unit so far, apart from the stellar efficiency and basically silence, so far there is a very clear improvement of stability. I'm running RAM with a whopping 20% tighter timings with no issues (whereas before errors would show up straight away with the same settings).. The monitoring / software config is quite nice too. I'm also trying a bit of OC this time, whereas before the 13900K system was never really fully stable even on stock settings (longest uptime 2-3 days maybe). Interestingly 12900KS managed to stay stable, albeit after a long period of painful tweaking, which most likely could have been avoided. TBH I had no idea an old/poor electrical quality PSU could have such a detrimental effect on the system. I thought the whole nitpicking of voltage regulation in PSU reviews was just marketing. Now, it's early hours, will need a good couple of days to reach the final verdict.

Replacement AX1600i has the same wobbly power cord connection issue, hence the discount I guess. Fortunately, with@Mr. Fox's electrical tape hack the fit is almost perfect. Thanks a lot bro. I'm going it give the unit a go, despite the poor first impression.

The operative word is "should". Some actual pressure from AMD should indeed help, and a lot depends on the Data Centre demand. This could well falter given the situation in tech (although I wouldn't hold my breath just yet). We are also assuming Nvidia is capturing a decent margin on those 4080s and 4090s, but we don't know if that's actually the case.

I do not wish to dampen any of your enthusiasm due to the anticipated massive Nvidia price cuts, but even with the 5%: I will believe it when I see it. There is nothing in the UK Nvidia store apart from the 3090 Ti still stuck at £1150, and even that is on and off. I don't see them reducing any prices soon. Perhaps this is specific to the Eurozone or something. Don Jensen ain't your Santa, he has a "business" to run.

I wouldn't read too much into this, unfortunately. Just a minor adjustment to correct for the recently weaker dollar. Let's look out for any price cuts in the US. For now it seems that Don Jensen would rather cut throats than prices.

Thanks a lot for the data point and advice Bro. Good idea with the electrical tape, although in my mind it would be something worth trying when buying on a secondary market. If Corsair can't ensure a power cord fits a brand new flagship unit correctly, what else could go wrong? Or am I asking too much of the manufacturers these days lol? I should have uploaded a video to illustrate: the thing is flapping about in response to a touch with a pinky (although somehow doesn't fall out - this requires a bit of a pull, which I guess justified a QA pass, if any).

Phobya Nanogrease Extreme is doing great after the same 10 days. It's one of the thicker pastes BTW. It was also previously tested in the same system and fairly severe summer conditions, over a period of many months. Zero degradation. The SYY-157 tube is in the trash now.

No issues with Razer Core X. I would be surprised if Alienware came up with something substantial, after all, they want you to keep buying new laptops rather than new GPUs to use with a $300 enclosure. They killed the AGA, instead of refreshing it, for a reason.

I've found some replacement C19 cables online but it'd be ridiculous to blindly buy one of unknown quality for a new PSU. Let's see how the replacement does. Sorry to hear. Norway is famously expensive, but strange to hear about the government cost cutting. Perhaps something will improve under the new, presumably more fiscally permissive, option....

So you didn't see this on the HXi? I'd assume not, since that's clearly ridiculous. In contrast, the power cord in my Thermaltake is snug, zero play - plus there is a LED to indicate when the power is flipped on. Edit: thanks for the link. Great to see a complete fail with a non-standard C19 power cord. Obviously that's just needed for the 110V markets. The supplied power cord is 18A or 4.3kW at 240V lol

It's a pathetic joke, but Jensen is just a funny guy, which why he decided to pull another one on people, this time with a 3040 or 3060 Li pushed as "3060". I mean clearly those Nvidia people don't care about the consumer market anymore.

Just imagine the plug moving very easily side to side. Not falling out but really loose. Amazon talked me into trying a free replacement, have a bit of a bad feeling about this but OK. Will give them a chance, but one more strike and Corsair is out. I can't imagine it's working like this by design, but at the same time there is clearly either no QC or it really sucks, which is a worry.

Right off the bat, I'm not too impressed with one aspect of this AX1600i PSU. The power cord is quite loose. Not to the point where it would fall out, but just doesn't fit snugly, the plug very easily moves up and down and sideways when all the way in. It takes very little muscle power to pull it out. The unit seems fine otherwise. I'm wondering if this is a normal feature of Corsair PSUs or whether Amazon sent me a flawed unit/cable. On the other hand, the inner dimensions of the plug are noticeably smaller than the outer dimensions of the socket, so perhaps this is as per Corsair' s design? I saw this mentioned in an unboxing video. Unbelievable. Given all the recent stories of issues caused by loose 12VHPWR cables, I should probably send this back. The plug is non-standard, so don't have another one or try instead. @Papusan
