  1. Brilliant, many thanks bro. Actually it looks like the Thermalright CF is the most stable of them all, and seems that that's the one I got from Amazon, even though the listing didn't specify this explicitly. Obviously, when it comes to replacing the CPU with Raptor Lake, one would have to remove the CF and put the Intel ILM back in first Any potential trouble there? Brings back some memories. TBH probably best to write those off, hard to see who would need them, especially in the current market conditions. Yeah, same here - think I will wait for the KS. Remember reading all the unflattering comments when trying to decide between 12900K and KS: "pointless, too hot etc.". Actually, it's pretty much just a factory binned and tuned 12900K for $150 extra, and it can run cool or hot depending on how you want it. Mine runs with a -125mV undervolt at around 220W/75C (5.2Ghz all core) under full load (360 AIO) which is much better than what I expected after reading all the online hate 😉 On the other hand, it's a bit of a d1ck move from Intel not to open up with a flagship, but instead first release a sub-flagship, hoping that desperate enthusiasts will end up buying two "flagships" instead of one. Same thing with Nvidia and their Ti, which we can safely assume is already production ready as well. Nice rig BTW. My next rig will be full hydro as well I think, given how slim WCed graphics cards are - def way to go for multi-gpu builds.
  2. Broken dreams, thanks @ssj92 🙂 Yeah, well I was hoping for a miracle I guess. OK, it is what it is. I will just get one FE card for now, and should this no longer suffice will get another one and they will have to run hot. I don't think there is an eGPU enclosure that would take a 4090FE (but maybe I'm wrong?). Well, there is the 2-slot A6000 itself, but $5k for 10k CUDA cores? Eek, thanks Jensen. Seems like it's only ever worth it if 48GB in a single GPU is required.
  3. Cool, found the invisible icon. Otherwise the new forum software looks nice and solid, love it. How are things going with maintaining the site?
  4. You can use more than one GPU without NVLink if the software takes advantage of the extra GPU. I guess not the case with games apart from perhaps using a secondary GPU as a dedicated PhysX processor. Interesting to note that SLI/NVlink connector for 3090 was enforcing a 1 slot clearance between the two cards...
  5. Thanks bros. Got the cheap one off Amazon but getting second thoughts. Temps are OK as is, but what worries me now is the prospect of potentially messing up stability (which is the top priority for this system). Perhaps using a small torque wrench for tightening the screws would be a good idea, but what torque setting to use? Did you run into any stability issues post installation? Good to be back, and straight in the desktop section at that 🙂 Edit: I guess being a newbie I'm not allowed to react to posts??
  6. Hello, quick question for anyone with multi-GPU build experience. Have people had any success running 2 slot cards next directly to each other (with no extra clearance in between)? What about 3 slot cards? I'm curious if 2 4090 FEs would fit and work reasonably well in 6 slots, particularly if not running under full load. This would have to operate 24/7 though.
  7. Hello all, finally made it in, great to see most of the usual suspects 🙂 Quck question right off the bat for @Mr. Fox or anyone else with 12900K(S) - did you have a chance to try out those LGA 1700 contact frames, as covered by Steve: Many thanks!
  8. Hello @ssj92! Wow! Awesome machine. Quick question: did this not suffer severe thermal issues due to multiple GPUs sitting next to each other with no extra clearance in between? BTW I wonder if 2x4090FE within 6 total slot space would work for 24/7 operation, especially if the cards were not expected to reach max TGP.
