*Official Benchmark Thread* - Post it here or it didn't happen :D

I've never been interested in this game because I don't care for the genre, but I always wanted the benchmark. It has always been too expensive, but now Steam has it on sale for $2.99 and I grabbed it. Hurry... less than an hour before the sale ends. @Papusan

Here is a stock run on the 4090.

I've got another 9950X and a 6000C26 32GB kit arriving late today for testing. If they are better than what I already have I will keep one or both, delid the CPU if it is better, etc. If not, will return both of them for a refund tomorrow.

Well, the new 9950X is close to an identical match to the better of my existing two. So, definitely not a lottery winner but good enough to keep. Look how close they are. Crazy. (#1 is the older CPU and #2 the one that arrived today.) The newer one might be just a hair better, but not enough difference to matter.

So, now it is delid and bare die and then test the 6000C26 32GB kit (which is already installed and running the same custom profile as the old 48GB kit).

So the 6000C26 kit is fine. Modest improvement. Tighter timings and lower voltage, but not a remarkable change in overall performance. Now I need to decide if it is worth keeping considering my loss of 16GB in memory capacity.

This is the original already delidded/bare die SP118 CPU back in the Strix. (I still need to delid the new one and put it in the Master, along with installing the EVC2 on the 5090.)

The weekend has been a disaster here home. The power grid has been down for almost 96 hours due to extreme weather here (Amy). Two freezers (1100 liters) with food destroyed. And my 380 liter refrigerator with spoiled food. Not enough with that... Two of the bigger trees in my yard collapsed. One hit my garage and also one of the cars. We rremoved 2 cars when I saw the big tree started dancing. If not ttey would be crushed they as well.

The biggest tree is closer to 1500 kg so quite big but I was damn lucky that it didn't go down the other way and crushed the house. Yep, this weekend has been a mess for me and my fam.

The big tree is well over 70 years and have stood fast over several Hurricanes/extreme weather over the years. She couldn't survive the weather this time. So game over for that big beauty. I'll miss you. Same also for all the birds in the summers you have housed 😞

Here's a couple of pictures for the pict lover. I'm sure you know whom you are🙂

Thanks bro Fox. Yup, I think so. But was damn happy the house survived. That would be much much worse to fix. Not much damage on the car. Same also for the garage. Only a dent. So I was damn lucky the tree also didn't crush the garage. A perfect landing for the tree😀 The buildings were saved. That's the most important thing. Can't ask for better luck from the lord in heaven.

The clovns continue.... Modern technology is becoming less and less tempting. This apply hardware and OS. And not to forget buggy software and firmware.

Graphics cards have been increasing their power consumption over time. This applies to virtually all models, and from the entry-level to the high-end, the increase is noticeable.

I'm so glad the damage was material only and everyone is safe and sound @Papusan!! Material items can be replaced / covered. Loved ones can not. Good fortune it didn't hit the house or do even worse.

By chance, was your collection of Crocs maybe caught under the tree? Maybe? 🙂

Just scored a 980Ti for 50 bucks on ebay.

Not really anything to write home about, except that it appears the owner was not aware that it came equipped with the morpheus 2 aftermarket heatsink which can't be sourced for anything less than 250-500. Obviously not going to spend that much on just a heatsink so I'm quite happy with the purchase.

It's going to be a busy winter this year 🙂

Did you receive it yet? Share some photos. Even if the GPU was DOA it would have been worth grabbing it for the Morpheus 2.

So, I did the EVC2 mod on the 5090. I never thought to check the I2C support list to see if the voltage controller is supported. It turns out it is not. Bummer. I emailed Elmor's Labs to ask for assistance. If they cannot provide an XML profile for that voltage controller I will see if the one on the 4090 Suprim is supported and use it for that GPU.

I noticed a couple of posts in the 5090 thread at overclock.net where it was mentioned some other GPUs have an unsupported controller. It would be a shame if Elmor does not update the profiles to provide support for it. I ran into this with SPI flash tools for laptop GPUs at one point where the vBIOS chip was not recognized. I had to buy a second SPI flasher to get support across the entire spectrum of GPUs when I was working with Prema on vBIOS stuff.

It didn't even cross my mind l2c vc controller support would be an issue so I understand. Hopefully they can provide an update or if your other one is supported.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

More MSI connector woes, but again with the sheer amount of cards being sold, it does come down to potential user error or one off issues.

This was on a Gaming Trio (not like that matters)

This isn't like the CM debacle which was much more prevalent and seemed like a daily occurrence with a crap ton of units showing up at repair shops across the world.

Lightning striking the second user TWICE is just odd......

The bulk of users over on the forums shooting 800w+ daily through their units having zero problems.

The vast majority of 4090 users never having a problem.

Just like my 4090 I run my 5090 full tilt.

The one bonus about using the supplied OEM tentacle is if it burns, you're completely covered from the OEM/AIB unlike if you use a third party connector. I will always continue to use the supplied connector. I might pick up an Ampinel simply because it looks interesting as a protection mechanism.

Hmm. They probably max out for benchmarks. Then you have this... I expect many use clamp meter, and follow temp on the tiny trash connector like a hawk. Running the GPU on cold water help as well. Also remember how fragile the connection is. Balancing amp between the 12V pins is a nightmare. Plug in and plug out the connector and you'll get a different reading between the pins. And most of them know you shouldn't use that Yellow trash from MSI.

I remember also that Cens started up benching his 4090 after some timeout. Nothing have changed from last bench session and instant heat from the 12VHPWR connector, unstability and crashes. Nothing was changed. Only a new run at 1000W.

From OCN.net

i was also waiting on the Ampinel (apparently won't work) or Wireview Pro2 to monitor amp balance on the Ventus, since I’ll need to run very high voltage. A clamp meter isn’t an option because the cables on the ASRock PG-1600G are factory sleeved. I hate benching the Ventus “blind” without knowing the amp balance, so I avoid pushing really high voltage through it with the EVC2. I might end up using a third party cable, if the clamp meter is my only option.

Then you have different PC users...

I hope so, too. I am going to wait to desolder the wiring until I hear back from them on it. It was a real pain in the bottom to do.

Did the Strix 5090 XOC vBIOS get leaked? I saw some chatter about it at overclock.net but did not see where it is available for download.

Still no one that have the 5090 XOC vBIOS. Only the chosen ones and their best friends.

Yup. Expect that many people don't know how PC hardware really works. More than you can imagine.
