P775 TM1G question about purchasing a heatsink from aliexpress

the jg89

Recommended Posts

Hi!

It is the same seller I got my heatsink from. The price has gone way up since I bought it (from 210gbp/246eur for 30 air).

There is not much to complain about other than from what I remember tracking didn't update when it arrived in UK but otherwise came quickly still.

Rest can be seen in the post I made about my 3080 upgrade.

The seller otherwise is legit though. You could look up if there is a cheaper solution out there. Some people claim to have bought similiar hestsinks from taobao for muuuuuch cheaper.

Yeah, the same seller I bought my Air-20 series from. I paid exactly 200€.
Still waiting to arrive, hopefully next week or the week after.

But the seller is legit, took a bit long to prepare the heatsink before shipping it out, but sent me a photos of it prior sending it, letting me know the overall look and condition of the item.

I also got the 20 Series heatsink long time ago from the same seller....arrived around two weeks to germany via ali "express" delivery Service..

I am also living in Germany and waiting for the "air only" version of the same heatsink:) How does it operate without the water pump connected? Is it better than the stock one?

Thanks for the response guys 😄

decided to buy the 10/20 air heatsink, just hoping that the thermal pads that's currently in my laptop aren't a problem to use with this laptop lol

The thermal pads thickness is not the same. You will have to rearrange all pads over again and probably buy a new ones, because stock ones are rated only 4W/mK

I'll need a little help determining that though ^_^' , I have some thermal pads that are 12.8W/mk but not ones that are thicker than that so any guidance is appreciated.

(photo on thermal pads, size and thickness would be great too)

As long as I get the new heatsink I‘ll have more clarity, but till then this statement from @srs2236 would be of great help:

  • 2 weeks later...

Be careful with the copper surface. I thought mine looked smooth aswell until I removed the heatsink...

Funny thing about that, i ran my finger across those surfaces and it was pretty smooth too

The seller was pretty great too, kept in touch and everything.

Can you share the results?

what thickness you needed for the pads?

what are the specs of your 775TM1-G?

where do you live?

I don't mean nothing bad. If I remember correctly I ran my finger across them aswell and it felt smooth. But it wasn't. Just don't want any accidents like I had. Anyways, hope the best! Maybe I just had a bad batch you never know. And anyways after I did some polishing it was alright! But only after some polishing on mine could you really start to see some imperfections on the surface. And for me there were imperfections on both GPU/CPU. On CPU you don't have to worry as much as the IHS protects from anything bad. On GPU it's not good news..

Anyways, keep us updated with the temps! Curious about your CPU temps. For GPU my heatsink works wonderfully (even after scratching my die -_-) but CPU is still 100C bakery xD

Actually I was kinda hoping someone posted their results first ^_^'

I don't have the neccessary thermal pads or know how to do this.

My specs are rtx 2080 and i9 9900k.

I live in the uk but it seems odd that it came fast, I got a text and all saying when it'll come as well.

Hi chaps,

i’m watching this thread intently …and Mirages actually.

I have a P775TM1 2080 & i9900K and iam currently waiting on an air/water heatsink arriving from aliexpress. Got the photos of it all before it was posted out to me in UK yesterday so guessing a few weeks for me to wait.

The pump/radiator/reservoir (from aliexpress) is due to arrive tomorrow.

In terms of thermal pads i’ve decided to try the thermal putty route and have ordered some TG-pp10 from the US so awaiting that too 👊

Sheer desperation to drop the CPU thermals which are a son of a GUN haha.

Best regards

Chris

Hello!

I definately put thermal paste before putting down the heatsink. I would never put the heatsink down without thermal paste. And I always put a lot of thermal paste. The only thing maybe that could have something to do with it is that I dont spread my thermal paste, so maybe that had something to do with it? But I don't think so.

Alright, I ordered a few thermal pads with more than 12 W/MK thermal conductivity so I should be good.

thing is I studied my current heatsink to determine the place and thickness of each thermal pad so I think I got a pretty good idea on where each one goes,

I made an estimate on these pictures too, yeah I know it's a bit of a mess but I Accidenttaly merged the text with the picture lol

I also sand papered (used the smooth 3000 grit piece) the copper parts on my new heatsink slightly to smoothen them just incase.

Your measurement is wrong. You will have problems with overheating VRMs

I got mine, wait a bit until I assembly everything and I will give you info.

don’t run your system with the pad’s thickness you’ve used.

Yup, according to my measurements the VRMs is indeed wrong.

Nice 🙂 , just waiting for my thermal pads to arrive which should be a few days.

just wish the heatsink provider could provide a guide for all of this rather then do guess work.

just wondering, Can you point me to the VRMS on the pic? ^_^'

sorry I'm not too tech savvy with this

This is the part that I believe is wrong. I think it must be thicker. Just recheck it.
