I have a couple of factory SM-G and KM-G heatsinks, all polished. The water coolers were not polished.✌️ ◄►Medion Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimatei►+Water System►i9-275HX/96GB/4TB/nV RTX 5090 24GB/RTL 2.5GBLan <---Slayer Of Desktops & Desktop Killer---> ◄►Clevo® X170SM-G / KM-G►+AIO Water System►i7-11700K/128GB/8TB/nV RTX 3080 16GB MXM►Killer 2.5GBLan►Win10/11 x64 Pro►LG®OLED55C4 4K/144Hz G-Sync◄►** Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Teo Posted July 21 Share Posted July 21 If someone is interested on how to unlock the hidden menus on Bios 1.07.09RTR6 from XMG I have found a way and it does work but it can be a bit laborious and risky. Be aware that Bios modification could brick your laptop or if wrongly modifying your Bios can cause malfunction. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK ⚠️ I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE OF ANY DAMAGE CAUSE ON THE MOD OF YOUR BIOS AND LAPTOP. Before proceeding you must have already some knowledge on how to Backup, Edit and Flash Bios, otherwise I advice not to try. Left all the steps on a PDF file. XMG_1.07.09RTR6_UNLOCK_STEPS.pdf NEEDED TOOLS • FPTW64 (is has to be a version compatible for Intel ME v15) • UEFITOOLS 0.28.0 (capable to replace any REGIONS, Volume, sections, VSS etc) • HxD Editor or any good Hexadecimal Editor. 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

momo25 Posted September 29 Share Posted September 29 So after I got the chinese watercooled Heatsink I spend a long time figuring out different thermal pad sizes to get the best contact with the die/IHS. Somehow I cant understand my thermal paste spread though, as it is very uneven on the left side, both on the CPU and GPU. No matter what pads I tried on the GPU side, (0.5 all the way to 2mm!), nothing works... im kinda out of ideas so maybe someone can help? Its been months and it still runs like shit (80C+ on GPU 87-90C on CPU) I just wanna get this damn thing running 😭 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

No, I used it on a P870 with RTX3080, there was no exact pad sizes because of the custom heatsink. As far as I know puttys are good when you do not know the pad size. It is hard to work with but the thermal conductivity is just like gelid extreme and you dont have to worry about the contacts and bending. 21 hours ago, momo25 said: The strange thing here is that the spot that doesnt make contact is on the side where there are not pads so I think the heatsink is the issue If the heatsink the issue maybe ask for a refund. Teo Posted October 3 Share Posted October 3 Hello Momo25 If you bought this same model of Water cooler from Aliexpress try this measurements. I don’t know if you already figure out. Also if you can since you delided the CPU try to sanded with a thin sander paper, it will create a better surface for contact. tips: I did use a copper shim of 0.5mm for the GPU and applied Arthic thermal paste, my GPU runs at 50c~60c on heavy load and benchmarks. If you open 2 pages back from this post you will see all what I have done to my laptop, I think I also posted what was the thickness of my thermalpads, also other users has posted it You can find those infos, if you look back on the first post of this thread. Best of luck. I got the heatsink like 2-3 months ago, I doubt that ill be able to refund it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Best of luck. Hi, yeah thats the one. I did try out these pad sizes but this also didnt work. I also thought about copper shims instead of the GPU pads, might just do that aswell. I did sand the IHS. I wanted to buy the rockitcool or bartex 11th gen copper IHS but no matter where i look 11th gen seems to be gone everywhere. There's 9th gen 10th gen and 12th gen + but 11th gen just seems to have vanished from everywhere. Ive seen your work, thats awesome btw! I would have wantes to do something similar since the vapor chamber on the GPU is just great and Im kind of missing that on the aftermarket heatsink. I think ill just use a putty and the copper shims and see if that helps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
strijrator Posted Sunday at 06:19 PM Share Posted Sunday at 06:19 PM (edited) Hello everyone, I tried upgrading my ram on my Origin EON 17-x, but I am having issues. When I installed the new ram, I get frequent blue screen errors and crashes. I ran the Windows memory diagnostic program, and it found errors in the new ram. I tried running the ram diagnostic with each stick separately but still had issues. My old ram is 16GB (8x2) of Corsair Vengeance 2666MHz CL18 at 1.2V, which works great. All drivers are installed, and my Windows 10 install is updated. The ram I tried using to upgrade the laptop was a G-Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3200MHz CL22 1.2V 64GB (32x2) kit. I installed the two modules in ram slots 1 and 3 (under the bottom cover). I am using an i9 11900K processor My BIOS version is 1.07.08TOPC My EC version is 1.07.04 Are there incompatibilities when using 64GB of ram at 3200mhz, or did I get a faulty kit? I am considering returning the ram and finding a new 64GB kit. I have heard that this laptop is capable of 128GB ram, so I thought 64GB should work fairly easily. Origin has told me that they only release one bios per laptop, so updating the bios likely wont help. I tried resetting cmos but that did not help. Thanks for the help UPDATE: I tried installing the new memory in slots 2 & 4 and the system was stable. However, the ram ran at a speed of 2667 at CL19. I also tried mixing my 8gb stick and the new 32gb stick in slots 1 & 3 and the system was stable and ran at 2533mhz at CL19. When I tried to populate all slots with those 2 different kits, the system would turn on but not boot, and it eventually would turn back off. I saw another user here having the same issue and they were also using the same laptop (Origin EON 17-X). Maybe I will still return the kit and try to buy a slower 2933 kit that will hopefully work in slots 1 & 3. I wonder what is the fastest 64gb kit I can use in this laptop. It seems that ram is VERY finnicky on the Origin EON 17-X specifically. I wish Origin had as much memory support as some of the other X170KM models, specifically the XMG Ultra 17. I have seen users get 128gb of ram or 64gb 3200mhz on that laptop with 11th gen, but that seems improbable for this Origin model. Maybe an unlocked BIOS or another BIOS could help, but I am unsure if I want to go that route. Edited Monday at 12:55 AM by strijrator Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hi @Teo Were you using the stock Origin bios before you updated to the XMG one? I am using an EON 17-x and am considering reflashing my bios from the Origin one to XMG’s latest one since I am having stability issues running 64gb of 3200 cl22 ram on my laptop. I am guessing it is safe to reflash bioses between different vendors such as Origin and XMG? Or maybe it would be easier to unlock my bios and manually set ram speed, timings, or other jedec profiles. Thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks Hi @strijrator About the post you replied to, is for unlocking XMG BIOS, there is not software for unlocking it so I had to do it manually if you have read the post. I guess you know that at the beginning of this thread you can find the software to unlock any BIOS brand if the version is below 1.07.08. I have tested on mine on Origin models, works well. I updated my laptop with XMG Bioses, when you download it you Will get 2 files. The reason for this 2 files is for memory compatibility, if I am not wrong (Gear1 and Gear2, or sort of) one is for laptops with 2 memories populated and the other one is for 4 memories populated. (To my understanding: Intel didn’t collaborate so much to produce a better Bios for x-170km when 4 memories were populated, the speed was always downgraded to 2666mhz and many other issues, so XMG team worked hard and made it work and improved many other things, not like 100% full speed 3200mhz but very close) They said the XMG is much stable compare to other BIOS version, so I think it will better to try it if it solves the Memory issues you are having. Note: you can always revert the Bios update of your Laptops vendor if available, had zero issues, I changed my laptop versions back and forward from 1.07.07 ~ 1.07.09RTR and ORIGIN, CLEVO STYLE, XMG and had no issues. Sorry for my late reply. I hope you have found a way to work things out. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
