Official Clevo X170KM-G Thread

My last results with X170KM and probably I am close to the limit of my machine until the winter comes:)

The TimeSpy result places me 25th in the world for 3080 notebook GPU. If I shunt mod it, would probably make it to the WR.

If you mean the GPU OC it's +220 core/+1650 memory in Afterburner.

Besides overclocking the CPU to the 11900K levels and applying UV -110, tuned RAMs for best primary, secondary and tertiary timings, there is nothing more I‘ve done to the system. The GPU is only overclocked and with G-Sync disabled during benching.

interesting, my cpu's faster (10900k) and does around 14k, but gpu is stock, also I do not have dynamic boost, dunno if that plays any role in this, but overclocking it proves it will use more power, up to around that 165w.

Also my ram runs at a faster frequency  (3200mhz) but lower timings (16 18 18 36).

Whenever there is a NVcleanstall version of the nvidia app which should add more gpu control I'll play around with it, always had some kinds of issues with afterburner and miss the auto voltage curve regulator

You are talking about X170SM or KM?

Because KM has problems with RAM speeds at and above 3200MHz and drops read speed almost twice at that frequency.
If you are using X170SM then the lower scores of your GPU come indeed from lacking the 15W turbo boost. Mine goes at some places even at 175W.

@MiRaGe How does your GPU's always overclock so high ;( My 3080 pushes +110 on core max 😕 That's with the POSCAPS added (that mod only gave me 5 MHz haha). Memory for me is +1400. You are 2x my OC on core. Tell me your secrets!! 😄

sm indeed, everything works as it should except gsync and dynamic boost which according to reasonably reliable source it just steals dedicated wattage from the cpu. Gsync is a bit of a loss I kinda miss it

Silicon lottery I suppose😄

+220 is stable for benching only.
For 24/7 I keep it at +170-180.

I'm not too sure about the vram pads, I tried everything that isn't the stock version at 1.5 mm and they all cause gpu thermal throttling for lack of contact, only the stock super squishy pads seem to work

Hello awesome people! This is the first time I have a gaming laptop. I traded my ITX rig because my new job requires me to be away from home for a longer period of time. Mine is a Origin EON17-X 2021 (11700K|16GB Memory|RTX 3070|1TB SDD|4K screen)

I'm not wearing my glasses so I cannot back-read much. I just want to know if Corsair Vengeance with the below specs is compatible with this laptop:

-64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 SODIMM kit
-3200MHz
-22-22-22-53
-1.2V

Edit: I saw Fury Impact installed successfully by one of the members so I bought it. Thanks guys.

A really nice result! You got a very good kind of 3080 card, that's a fact! I wish you good use! My 3080 card can do much less OC than yours. Where the difference is noticeable is the Benchmark. Not a bad performance from an SM-G model either.✌️😋

I hope I will have the opportunity to try the external "Desktop" GPU Modding option on an MXM socket...😄🤭💪

Hello, Tito here.

I have a X170KM with the 11700K an RTX3080 for a couple of years now.

I also have started to loose performance and getting very high temperatures to the point is starting to mess with the work.

I am a newbie in terms of repasting the processors, but everything indicate that I have to start by doing at least that before experimenting with undervolting.

Do anyone know someone or a shop in Paris that can help me doing the repasting in case I am not able to? Will start by disassembling and cleaning the fans, but I as I am no expert I may run into some trouble going further.

I have read some recommendations throughout the pages, but I ask again if you have some recommendation regarding the ease of installation for some paste or pads for someone with no experience doing the job.

Thanks in advance

T

Can the X170KM-G motherboard be installed instead of the X170SM-G?🤔

Unfortunately XMG customize the BIOS, it is not "original", but in the absence of anything else I can try that.
I used to find the BIOS on the official CLEVO website, but now they are no longer present.

I have currently been using version 1.07.08 modified to have the complete menus for years, and it works perfectly.

A problem has been occurring for a few days, the computer often does not pass the POST, it remains blocked, and I have to turn it off and on several times, until it goes forward.

During the POST, the RAM test (very long, for 64GB), is regularly passed.

Initially I thought the cause was a damaged SSD, in fact when I removed it then the computer started regularly.
Therefore I changed the SSD, finding that it shows the problem even with the new one.
The problem rarely occurs if I leave only one SSD (regardless of which one it is and which slot it occupies), while it is practically constant if I insert both SSDs, regardless of which slots I use (I tested by swapping the 2 SSDs in the 4 slots)

Therefore, the BIOS update is the last resort, but I am skeptical that it will solve anything.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem?

If it is not available on the official Clevo website, it is a pass.🙄

I haven't encountered such a problem so far.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, for the X170KM-G, I saw that it is not very updated, the latest BIOS available is 1.07.07, while on the official website (when you could still download BIOS), I had downloaded 1.07.08, and currently XMG has published 1.07.09 (so evidently the official version of version 1.07.09 should exist).

However, I am resigning myself to sending the computer for repair, the only way to make it pass the POST is to remove all the SSD units, or leave one and try turning it off and on many times, or with 2 SSD units connected, the probability that it passes the POST is perhaps 1 in 50.
