However, as of now, I believe the Ada series hasn't been cracked to support such a large VRAM capacity in their vBIOS. The supported VRAM combinations are hard-coded in the vBIOS. Refer to the GPU-Z entry for confirmation. It’s not possible to enable the two unused solder pads on the PCB unless vRAM is soldered onto those pads. The only feasible upgrade would be to replace all six vRAM chips with larger, double-capacity vRAM chips, which means 12GB->24GB. iieeann
In order to reset bios, is disconnecting the cmos battery the only option? it looks like the battery is not accessible with just opening the bottom case. Do i really need to remove everything including the mainboard just to do disconnect a small cable?? seems ridiculous, can anyone confirm this? Thanks. I run into problem of bios warning something "cannot run more multiple dock station simultaneously...." in a sudden for a dock station that i hv been using for almost 2 yrs. The only solution seems to be resetting the bios. You don't have to physically access the CMOS battery. If you can't access the BIOS setup to do the reset from there, hold the power button down for a long time (30-60 seconds?) without the AC adapter connected, and that should reset the BIOS to default settings. I did it once on my Precision 7770. I've seen that dock message pop up before too. "Fixed" by just unplugging and replugging the dock cable until it was happy. The docks seem so finicky on these things to me, I've stopped using one at all with my Precision 7560. 1 Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) • Dell Precision 7560 (work) • Full specs in spoiler block below Info posts (Windows) — Turbo boost toggle • The problem with Windows 11 • About Windows 10/11 LTSC Spoiler Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) M2 Max 4 efficiency cores 8 performance cores 38-core Apple GPU 96GB LPDDR5-6400 8TB SSD macOS 15 "Sequoia" 16.2" 3456×2234 120 Hz mini-LED ProMotion display Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3 99.6Wh battery 1080p webcam Fingerprint reader Also — iPhone 12 Pro 512GB, Apple Watch Series 8 Dell Precision 7560 (work) Intel Xeon W-11955M ("Tiger Lake") 8×2.6 GHz base, 5.0 GHz turbo, hyperthreading ("Willow Cove") 64GB DDR4-3200 ECC NVIDIA RTX A2000 4GB Storage: 512GB system drive (Micron 2300) 4TB additional storage (Sabrent Rocket Q4) Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 15.6" 3940×2160 IPS display Intel Wi-Fi AX210 (Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3) 95Wh battery 720p IR webcam Fingerprint reader Previous Dell Precision 7770, 7530, 7510, M4800, M6700 Dell Latitude E6520 Dell Inspiron 1720, 5150 Dell Latitude CPi
heikkuri
For all these messages when you are running WD19DC or WD10DCs 1. You have plugged a lower wattage power adapter USB C charging device or power pass-through device. Your system will continue to work but may not perform at it’s peak. 2. Your port does not provide enough power to operate the attached device. If possible, attach a power adapter to the external device. 3. Multiple docking stations are not simultaneously supported. Disconnect additional docking stations. 4. Your dock fan has failed. You may experience reduced performance until your dock is serviced. the solution is to reset the Dell dock like @Aaron44126 proposed. How to reset the Dell docking station 1. disconnect all extra USB devices like external hard disk and USB hub if exist. 2. shutdown PC. 3. disconnect laptop cable. 4. disconnect dock power cable from the wall socket. 5. push dock power button down and keep it down. 6. connect dock power to wall. 7. count to ten. 8. release the power button. 9. connect the dock cable to laptop. Not sure what this has to do with laptop battery... i did disconnect the battery before that to replace the heatsink for cleaning. My place is too dusty until i have to buy 1 set of full heatsink assembly for fast replacement. I can slowly clean the fan fin by fin later. TheWizzard1
To clarify @Aaron44126, you can press and hold the power button with any power cable (NOT a docking station power - Pure AC via DC jack or Type-C without USB) for a 30-count, after shutting down. This resets almost all newer Dell laptops CMOS.
