How to Mod INF? P157SM-A

Recommended Posts

Good Evening everyone,

I have gotten the P157SM-A off the shelf to start working on another one of the projects I have in mind but it means I need to figure out how to get drivers working in Windows.

Tried the NvCleanInstall and it fails, was looking over @ssj92's video but I get stuck at being unable to find my GPU in the list within the nv_dispwi.inf file. I was able to locate it in the nvdmwi.inf, not sure if it will serve as a substitute though.

Is there something I am missing or perhaps should be looking at a different file?

Device instance path:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13FA&SUBSYS_52811558&REV_A1\4&21E24A83&0008

I remember hardware ID's being used before, has the method changed or is the above just simpler?

Hardware Ids:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13FA&SUBSYS_52811558&REV_A1

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13FA&SUBSYS_52811558

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13FA&CC_030000

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13FA&CC_0300

@Tenoroon do you have much experience in this space? May need your assistance with the 4th Gen microcode as well in the near future. I have a 4810mq in this system that should be able to do 4Ghz I hope, 3.6Ghz looks to be the current clock it boosts to, also have the Prema BIOS on this system, a lucky bonus from when I purchased this system off of ebay some time ago. Thanks @Prema for making it all those years ago!

Thanks in advance everyone!

My knowledge isn't as great as you think. I may be a few steps ahead, but that's all. I can try to help though, it benefits both of us.

Now, may I ask, what graphics card are you trying to get working?

Apologies, could've sworn I had that in the OP.

I currently have the M3000M, which should be similar to the GTX 965m. I currently have the laptop off to help keep temps down in the house but I should be back at it around 4-5pm CST

When using nvcleaninstall, click add hardware support, for the ID, just enter the ID it shows on the right

THEN when selecting the gpu from the list, just choose any M3000M you can find. Should work.

I've been meaning to make a new video showing nvcleaninstall

Try doing what SSJ mentioned, NVCleanInstall can be a bit weird sometimes.

Also, for the microcode, do you know what kind of BIOS the laptop has? I know it's a Prema BIOS but is it an Insyde or Phoenix branded one?

Finally got back to my laptop, looks to be 2012 American Megatrends

Version 2.15.1236 Prema Mod - Personal Edition -

EDIT: Adding in hardware support did the trick, after adding the needed info it now recognizes the M3000M and I can boot some games to verify that its functioning. Thanks Everyone!

Looks like the CPU gets pretty warm so I will do a repaste likely tomorrow before tuning it.

Did a repaste with some NTH1 I have laying about and temps with max fan speed hit about 75C at 3.8Ghz (+4 bins) pulling about 65 watts with a -70mv undervolt.

Haven't touched the BIOS yet save for power limits, going to take a look and see if it will let me bypass the clock settings for this CPU.
