Crysis 3 FPS "issues"

Recommended Posts

Good Evening ladies and gents,

I have been slowly gathering some benchmarks for my hardware and eventually landed on Crysis 3.

First issue, game was locked to 62 FPS, got this resolved by changing the vysnc to off and/or fast in Nvidia Control Panel.

The next issue may not be an issue but just wanted to run it by some folks like @Mr. Fox , @electrosoft and maybe @jaybee83 ?

Anyways I noticed that when looking out into the sea in the beginning of the game I notice the FPS jumps to around 200ish but doesnt hit full GPU utilization, then I look at a structure and the FPS goes straight to 120 on the dot. Is it the game or am I missing another tweak?

Thanks in advance fellas

whats your setup again? subtoptimal gpu util points towards a bottleneck somewhere, either hardware based on cpu or RAM or potentially also game engine based. its been a few years since crysis 3 released, after all...u might wanna check online on the engine. as for hardware, whats your setup again?

might wanna look into this nifty lil tool Intel just recently released, supposedly its great for identifying gpu/cpu bottlenecks:

Mine: Hyperion "Titan God of Heat, Heavenly Light, Power" (2022-24)
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X (TG High Perf. IHS) / Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme / MSI Geforce RTX 4090 Suprim X / Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB DDR5-8200 2x24 GB / Seagate Firecuda 530 4 TB / 5x Samsung 860 Evo 4 TB / Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 (Push/Pull 6x Noctua NF-A14 IndustrialPPC-3000 intake) / Seasonic TX-1600 W Titanium / Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 TG (3x Arctic P12 A-RGB intake / 4x Arctic P14 A-RGB exhaust / 1x Arctic P14 A-RGB RAM cooling) / Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 32" 4K 240 Hz / Ducky One 3 Daybreak Fullsize Cherry MX Brown / Corsair M65 Ultra RGB / PDP Afterglow Wave Black / Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition

Apologies, this is the setup

10850K @ 5.0Ghz

16GB DDR4 @ 4400Mhz

RTX 3090 @ +100/+1200 @ 119% Power Limit

Installed on SATA SSD

1300w PSU

I have that tool installed, would have to spend some time with it to get familiar.

Game doesnt seem to want to use more than 70% GPU utilization at the moment. I am not a fan of the Crysis IP so I am not very familiar with if it has any issues out of the box. Crysis 1 Remastered doesnt seem to have an issue using everything that is available to it.

I wouldn't go to burger King and ask the manager a question about engineering. But hey you never know.

Gpu utilization is low because the cpu is the bottleneck due to the way it was programmed. Everyone that has the game will experience this. Crysis should be doing the same thing as the 2nd and third. They did not account for future 64 core cpus

what res are u testing it at? try and bump it up to the max. also set your gpu back to full stock, see if that does anything for the gpu utilization. if it does, might indeed be a cpu bottleneck potentially caused by the unoptimized engine.

its at least capable to scaling up to 6 cores / 12 threads....

Im not asking the manager, clearly no one from CryEngine is here to discuss, Im talking to their customers to see if their experience at Burger King is the same as mine.

Im guessing this is just what you can expect from Crysis 3, in Crysis 1 Remaster the utilization is maxed out pretty consistently, hadnt tried Crysis 2 yet. Not sure if I have it lol

I moved on to get some testing going to get some testing going for the 2700x as I want to install the 5800X3D lol, gathering some data first is hurting my soul XD
