well, theyre gonna replace hyperthreding with "rentable units", basically just a different approach to processing multiple threads at the same time. well have to wait and see how good that approach will actually be though.

utilized variable length stalls/cycles versus virtual pipelined instructions is my guess. AKA reimagining hyperthreading for more efficiency is my guess but we'll see.

thanks for that. its in USD but still within reach. 2000 cad=20k timespy

                                                                                3000 cad=31k timespy

50 percent more performance for 50 percent more money. either way its a locked metric. ones new and upgradable, ones used and non upgradable as well as the problem it will have a far less powerful cpu so lower frames at 4k by about 90 percent vs the 50percent bump in gpu performance.

this is harder than I thought it would be.

quick question, is now a bad time to buy with 5090 on the horizon and the eventual drop in gpu prices when it releases? money is an issue to an extent..i have money now but I have a list of wants and needs like an electric bike to get out of the house more often vs sitting on my computer for hours on end.

The price is good but you should be aware that the CPU is not unlocked. You need a "K" CPU if you want to overclock. You could upgrade the CPU later. Not sure what motherboard is in it or what kind of overclock settings it has in the BIOS.

not overclockable but thats fine I can always upgrade down the line or build from the ground up after tinkering with it, it will basically be my guinea pig. do you think the higher price is justified?

I am trying to find information on the MSI case, but it does not look like it would support a 360 AIO very well. It might, but it is difficult to tell from the photos. Probably not a good option if you plan any upgrades.

I don't know. The seller has two reviews and both are poor. I'd be more comfortable with the Best Buy option even if the specs are not as good.

@ryan - try this one. Looks like a better option in terms of potential for upgrades later, especially in terms of adding a 360 AIO later. It is a DDR4 motherboard though. https://www.amazon.ca/Skytech-Chronos-Gaming-PC-Desktop/dp/B0C9P8F78D?th=1

The biggest issue I see with the case on most air-cooled prebuilts are they are just way too small and adding better liquid cooling later is difficult or impossible.

Edit: @ryan You might get more for your money on Facepoot Marketplace, but there is always a risk there.

Check the ibuypower and cyberpowerpc web sites and see what you can do.

@ryan skip all of that above. I recommend going here and selecting what you can afford.

Looks like a Player One Prime option will fall within your budget and be better and safer than any of those other potentially sketchy choices.

Good base to start and customize within your budget. White or black options, good case, liquid cooling support (even includes a Kraken AIO to start).

thanks for that was cleaning for a bit sorry for the late reply..i can go as high as 2000 but the cheaper(1000-1300) the better, ideally around 1300

I would buy now but I need to think this through as money is hard to come by. should be trading stocks more often and wouldn't have these issues but theirs risk in that. anyways yeah like four options. nzxt 4060ti prebuilt. 3080 prebuilt renewed acer. 4080 omen 16 for 2200 or the gigabyte aero 3070ti laptop for 1200. all good options. will need time.

If I were in your shoes I am about 99% sure I would stick with the NZXT options. Much safer and the company has a better reputation than the others. You are far more likely to have something with much better upgrade options down the road, and starting off with a AIO liquid cooler is much better than those low-dollar air cooled options. I think all of the other options have very limited future potential in comparison.

I'll second this @ryan . I also like that NZXT has much easier to access components (they're all basically off the shelf and usually their brand) and they have good airflow.

Along with checking "Facepoot" (lol), don't be afraid to check eBay. Plenty of good deals to be had there too.

I still stick to building out your own from scratch to really dial in what you want and hand pick your components, but if you're wanting to go pre-built, NZXT is not a bad choice.

changed mind on predator and nzxt. expensive for what you get. impulsively bought a helios 16

have found a 4080 prebuilt for 2300 so within my budget and pretty top notch. thinking of the legion desktop with 4080 or the pro7 gen 8 7945hx 4080 laptop. both are good deals one is obviously 50 percent faster but im stuck with it. a 9i with mini led display is a good deal at 3200 but im short 200 so thats that. might just save my money and wait for games to come out before upgrading as my 3060 currently still plays all games well most at 4k on medium settings

I bought a 3d tablet to see if I could just do a switch. I'll still need a desktop so I think I'm going to piece it and try making it myself, new hobbies are always fun. Thanks for all the input, I guess the waiting game has an infinite timer

When I went through this, it was in the middle of the price hikes on video cards.  I got my XPS for a little more than the price of just the video card. Not sure if this is still the case or not.  But I did notice the XPS now is not near as good as mine. only two mem slots, less space for extra drives etc. I think I bought at the right time.
