Linux
2.4.9. is the latest. My machine is from Obsidian. It's a shame they don't build laptops anymore. Fantastic build, no issues since 2017. 2017 Clevo Laptop, TuxedoOS/Win11
Drimacus
2.4.9 is not the lastest. I have machine from Obsidian too. Problem back again after 3 days all was ok now when start PC fan control disappeared completely 😕 The problem is that the latest version of the control station is not compatible with the old version fan control 2.4.9 Both must be the latest for everything to work properly. I need lastest fan control which will work with this control station version:
1610ftw
This is what it also says with 2.4.9 fan control: So pretty much looks like the latest to me. I have in the last weeks tested RLEC Viewer and Clevo Fan Control and I have settled on Clevo Fan Control: At first RLEC viewer seemed to have some advantages but it has an annoying glitch where at least in my Clevo X170KM-G the fans go briefly down to zero when they ramp down, so they would for example ramp down from 20 to 18% with an annoying clicking sound in between. So for a two fan chassis I would recommend Clevo Fan Control and RLECViewer only for Clevos with three fans as the third fan is not recognized by Clevo Fan Control in its current state. Drimacus
The Obsidian update serwers are down like 2 year or more so it always will show up you have lastest. Last newest one i used and remember was version 2.5.1. To bad i didn't make a copy of instaler because now no one have it and can't find it nowhere in internet. zex4
I had all of the copies before losed my hdd back then...it was Fan control, driver update, control station and keyboard led as far I know.... I rly hope someone can re-upload them here again 😔 🤧 Otherwise I could not not find them on www....
Linux
I only still use the fan control. I have 2019 versions of all 4 apps. Probably not the latest available version each. But i can upload them for you. @zex4 You got PM. 2017 Clevo Laptop, TuxedoOS/Win11
1610ftw
Obsidian could at least make the latest versions available again - it is not like people will be able to do much with them without a license.
Linux
When they announced closing down business - the software was still developed for a couple of months - i tried to get the versions from them. But they never answered. I only experienced great support via e-mail from them over the years, but this was a letdown. The developer said, there were no plans to monetize the software after closing down. It's a shame, that the apps were not made available to the public. 1 2017 Clevo Laptop, TuxedoOS/Win11
DLoa
Hello, I did a clean install of Windows 11 24H2 on m P77TM1-G Clevo (Eurocom, with i9-9900, RT 2080, 64Gb) and I am in the process of reinstalling all my programs and data. OBSIDIAN-PC Fan Control 2.4.9 was just re-installed but only shows EC Automatic and Max Speed main Modes - I thought also there was a profile curve. I proceeded to activate it again but it failed. Hopeful it can work from the post above by @1610ftw. The field for UUID is empty and the license I got when I purchased it back in 2019 fails with a pop-up as "Not a valid license, please insert correct license number or contact number or contact support!". There is no support by Obsidian from what I understand. I can boot to my previous Windows install and search the registry to retrieve any settings if that helps. Note that I did not bother reinstalling the Control Station and Updater apps. Any suggestions on what I can do to activate it properly? If it is not possible, is there a better alternative application? DLoa
Hello @1610ftw Yes, I'll give Clevo Fan Control a try - thanks for the input Did you manage to update your Windows OS and not loose your registration for the Obsidian Fan control? Researching about UUID I am still not clear if it is tied to hardware -or- if a clean install (including deleting all partitions on OS drive) can make my laptop lose its original UUID, which was used when purchasing the Obsidian Fan and Updater licenses for it. It was running Windows 10 Pro originally. Update: The UUID on m current system matches the one I provided Obsidian when using in Powershell the following command: PS C:\Users\Admin> (Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_ComputerSystemProduct).UUID Did anyone run into the same issue provided license code, not recognized after clean OS install and/or main drive upgrade? Is there a way to make Obsidian Fan work as it should a registered software ? It should stay the same no matter how many times you reinstall windows unless you change it yourself. You can check your UUID with HWInfo. I tried checking your way and just got some error. I never liked the restriction to only one specific laptop instead of being able to move the software to another machine. Also when I was interested for the first time Obsidian already seemed to be on the way out of the laptop business.
DLoa
Thank you both for looking into it. The UUID commands works for PowerShell on my end and the UUID is matching. A possibility is that it tries to connect to Obsidian server to carry out an initial license check but it cant if the server is down nowadays. For kicks I copied over the FanControl folder from my previous install back in my Documents folder (user shell) it made the warning go away. It did not give access to all the Main modes I used to have and that can be see in the C:\Program Files\FanControl\fantables (Manual, Silent Normal, Silent and Extreme) . It looks like the inactivated FanControl is limited to either EC Automatic and Max Speed. An email was sent to the Obsidian support that gave me the license code ust in case it still works. Out of curiosity I'll try fetching backup of FanControl Registry entries like in ClevoService from my previous system with working registered FanControl since UUID, computer name and user names didn't change. Wil be report back here if it works - a long shot. Time for a new solution as suggested by 1610ftw. It is also not very active and was detected as a threat by antivirus. The XMG & SCHENKER put together a nice looking and comprehensive Control Centre for their Oasis water cooling system displayed in the review during CES 2024 linked below. There might be other solutions around hopefully to interact and pa nice with the P775TM1-G unified cooling of the CPU and GPU. DLoa
There is a newer and fully customizable project Fan Control linked below. Fan Control - A highly focused fan controlling software for Windows (version 206) Did anyone tried it for Clevo laptops ? According to the comments in https://github.com/Rem0o/FanControl.Releases/discussions/2160 it looks like a plugin for Clevo could be added using the Obsidian spinoff project by djsubtronic linked below. https://github.com/djsubtronic/ClevoFanControl On a related note, I spaced out earlier and I just realized I misread a previous post by @1610ftw, is the Clevo Fan Control project by djsubtronic what you settled in with? These last two projects by djsubtronic and Rem0o are promising. I particularly like the highly customizable FanControl by Rem0o with the possibility to include a FanControl pluggin to HWInfo, FanControl.HWInfo which is cool. It is currently maintained. I am planning to use it with my Home Theatre PC (i7-7700k, RTX 2080 Grandia GD09B), with the potential to bypass Afterburner profiles and do a more comprehensive fan control. I would like it for my Clevo if it can be configured reliably. Rem0o's FanControl has clear online doc and a great YouTube review / tutorial by JayzTwoCents linked in Rem0o/FanControl.Releases Github page and here before. Everyone NEEDS this FREE piece of software... I can tinker but I'm not a programmer, a wrapper Clevo plugin to FanControl by Rem0o sounds like a good plan. A programmer among us would be up to at least look into it? srs2236
Why do you guys are so desperate for the fan control software? I am rocking the three modes that the basic CCC gives me and I am happy lol =D I hate CCC for other things but not fan control. Like for example it gets in the way of GPU OC. And possibly even messes with CPU max frequency for some reason but fan control I don't mind at all. Not desperate at all, Clevo Fan Control works just fine for the X170 chassis and I assume for the P775, too. I do not like CCC because: it is not very well written and does stuff in a non-reliable way or even not at all its whole mode of operation feels clumsy and non-intuitive it messes with things it should not mess with it is hideous for a program that has been in use for so long and for enthusiasts machines the configurability and ease of access to presets is very disappointing and unworthy of an enthusiast product, Clevo should have bought the Obsidian software when Obsidian went out of business as clearly they are unable to write proper software for their own products did I mention it is hideous? its garish colors and completely overblown size would be a reason for me to look for something else even if it was working
