ninjaturtle
I have a HP Zbook 17" G3 with a Nvidia Quadro M5000M. I got a free NVIDIA Quadro P5200 from our IT department in the office. I always hunt for free GPUs, SSDs :D They are both MXM-B 3.0 bus interface Gpus. However M5000M is 100 W whereas P5200 is 150W. If the P5200 has a bios chip can we make this work? What if the P5200 does not have a bios chip, can I solder one on and flash it ? I love reviving old laptop instead of buying new ones if you can help me it would be much appreciated. james

Can you send a photo of the video card? Do you have a P5200 from HP, perhaps? Then it is not 150 watts (the MSI version has such a TDP), but 110 or 100 watts. The HP version is cut in frequencies and TDP. Moreover, you can always increase or decrease this value via Mobile Pascal TDP Tweaker. I can help by telling you which chip will work and sending you a suitable vbios image. My plan is to start with P5000 as I am beginner to gpu upgrade. That one sounds like could be plug n play. Then I will pursue P5200. I want to learn solder chip and flash with P5200.
