StripeySnake
I think I actually found a short after all! The second large flat pin from the right side of the card (top facing up) is shorted to the pads on the screw holes, and so is the pin underneath it on the other side of the PCB. I'm pretty sure those screw pads are ground, and if they are, then one of my power rails is shorted to ground after all. 1 OWNED: 14 R1 - 4710MQ @ 3.6 Ghz, hd 4600, 12gb DDR3L 1600 Mhz JANKTOP IV Mini-ITX Laptop - R5 2600X, 16gb DDR4 3000 Mhz, RX 5700 XT - (ONGOING) Under my wing: 15 R3 - GTX 1060 6gb, i7 7700HQ, 16gb DDR4 17 R4 - RX 470 8gb i7 6700HQ, 16gb DDR4 M17x R4 - 3630QM, Quadro P4000, 16gb DDR3L 1600 Mhz M17x R2 - i7 920XM @ 3.4 Ghz, GTX 770m 2gb, 16gb DDR3
StripeySnake
Based off of the short on the power rail I tested shorting all of my MOSFETS to ground, and found that one of them has substantially less resistance than the rest (90% less). I will keep trying to asses the board but i might have found the issue. 1 OWNED: 14 R1 - 4710MQ @ 3.6 Ghz, hd 4600, 12gb DDR3L 1600 Mhz JANKTOP IV Mini-ITX Laptop - R5 2600X, 16gb DDR4 3000 Mhz, RX 5700 XT - (ONGOING) Under my wing: 15 R3 - GTX 1060 6gb, i7 7700HQ, 16gb DDR4 17 R4 - RX 470 8gb i7 6700HQ, 16gb DDR4 M17x R4 - 3630QM, Quadro P4000, 16gb DDR3L 1600 Mhz M17x R2 - i7 920XM @ 3.4 Ghz, GTX 770m 2gb, 16gb DDR3

I also tried in the m18xr2 had same problem but just Blue BSOD, but it ran long enough to do Firestrike demo https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/73750402 in m17xr4 and also in m18xr2 but cant find that shortcut. This tells me the card is good And yes I had to file the heatsink for the power plug housing in the upper right corner and an area on the left side, its a tripple pipe and the P4000 is running pretty cool What is a good vbios programmer tool recomendation? It crashes at 2 different processes, depending on the drivers, it may crash during driver install or after a restart after driver install. I think older drivers like in the 472 crashes after restart but the later like 512 crash during install, but not sure it might be the other way around. I would have to swap the card and go another round but want to wait on the programmer so I can try different vBIOS. I really thought I was changing the vBIOS because the cmd window seemed to say successful, but going back to a card that works (P4000) my memory starts to get sketchy of what really happened. It gets nerve racking when looking for a solution and giving up knowing the other card works. I bought the card Mar 20, 2022 and gave good feedback, dont think a return is possible. But this 1080 deffinatly working because before a restart I was able to run Two Firestrike benchmarks (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/73750402 and https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/73753021) Strange the score difference but maybe it was OC settings. I also got a benchmark with 1080 in the m18xr2 but that also was getting BSOD. Its so much easier to swap in m17xr4 its a pleasure in comparrison Clevo P870DM3-G i9-9900k-32.0GB 2667mhz-RTX3080+GTX1080 Alienware M18x R2 i7-3920xm-32GB DDR3-RTX 3000 Alienware M17x R4 i7-3940XM-16GB DDR3-RTX 3000 Alienware M17x R4 i7-3940XM 20GB DDR3-P4000 120hz 3D Precision m6700 i7-3840QM-16GB DDR3-GTX 970M Precision m4700 i7-3840QM-16GB DDR3-T2000M HP ZBook 17 G6 i7 9850H-32GB DDR4-RTX4000maxQ GOBOXX SLM G2721-i7-10875H RTX 3000-32GB ddr4

StripeySnake
I know this is about the previous topic, but that 1080 I was talking about? I just got my hands on an eeprom programmer, and decided to check the VBIOS side by side with the manufacturer one. Both start out with the same manufacturer date, version, and everything is identical to the T. 3/4 of the way through the one that was on there however, the bios file peters out into FFFF values, and becomes empty space, whereas the manufacturer one continues much further and looks a lot more functional. Considering the mismatch in files, and yet matching versions and dates, I think I may have just found the issue. I don't have the m17x with me right now, but I'll be testing it once I do. If the 1080 works out, then I will finally be trying the p4000 in the M17x R2 long term. 🙂 OWNED: 14 R1 - 4710MQ @ 3.6 Ghz, hd 4600, 12gb DDR3L 1600 Mhz JANKTOP IV Mini-ITX Laptop - R5 2600X, 16gb DDR4 3000 Mhz, RX 5700 XT - (ONGOING) Under my wing: 15 R3 - GTX 1060 6gb, i7 7700HQ, 16gb DDR4 17 R4 - RX 470 8gb i7 6700HQ, 16gb DDR4 M17x R4 - 3630QM, Quadro P4000, 16gb DDR3L 1600 Mhz M17x R2 - i7 920XM @ 3.4 Ghz, GTX 770m 2gb, 16gb DDR3

This is what I have been trying to do with vBIOS editing to get newer GPUs working in older systems but for me it hasn't fully worked yet. Once I receive my older AW I will do more testing. There is probably a "proper" way to do it. Could you upload the vBIOS with FFF and the manufacturer one here so I can take a look?
