Here's the thing with free Linux  distros. Some don't see why people avoid the orginal. Why make a copycat of Windows 11's and it's ugliness? Windows 11's start menu etc is darn awful and should never been copied for any OS.

While I find it very difficult to believe, there are actually some people that actually like how Winduhz 11 looks. Many of us think it is repulsive and find it disgusting. Unfortunately, there are some people that want their Linux distro to look like Winduhz 11 or Mac OS and some have gone to the effort to make desktops environments that are designed to do that. The nice thing with Linux is if you don't like it you do not have to put up with it, and changing it is very easy compared to remediating the aesthetic abortion in Windows.

Tried different distros, finally stayed on one seemed most known to me (I had experience since version 8.04 was considered new). I always had given up on learning and using it as daily driver, now I sometimes have some problems, but lefty loosy - righty tighty and still not going back anymore to Windows.. especially after last 3 buggy reinstalls in 2 weeks..

And Arch also known as SteamOS on my SD.

I don't give a rat's butt about Secure Boot. Always disabled on the first boot of a new motherboard, along with TPM, and never re-enabled again. Ever. Fake security blanket rubbish to make Micro$lop seem more relevant and important than they should be.

 

CachyOS installed without a hitch on the X870E AORUS Master. Working great. Still rocking Kubuntu on the Strix X870E-E. Week three without using Windoze except for in a VM when it is unavoidable. Not missing anything Micro$lop has to offer, which is close to nothing.

Sadly it will come the time they'll remove all settings in bios so you are forced to have this junk enabled all time 24/7/365.

If/when that happens I will use whatever motherboard I have until it stops working and replace it with another one like it. Or, I will not have a computer. I will not tolerate tech companies deciding things for me. Screw 'em... they will deserve to die if that happens and I will do my part to help.
