Does the version of the GE76 with the 8GB RTX 3080 make any sense in this line-up?

3070Ti has practically the same, if not better (in a few games) performance and costs less.

Am I missing something?🤨

Maybe left over chips from their previous generation production allocation. No reason to not pair them with a 12th Gen CPU at this point.

Yeah but I mean more as a buyer, does that model make sense?

The 3070Ti version costs less and has practically same performance. Similar priced alternatives pack a 16GB 3080.

What would make someone want a 8GB 3080?

Sure. Both in stock? QHD or FHD panel? How much of a price difference? 165W vs 150W? More VRM phases? Same memory clock speeds?

If it is QHD I would opt for the 3080 so long as it was no more than $200 extra. Certainly a better deal than the $900 upgrade price they want for the 3080ti in the US market. Technically the Costco special is $1100 cheaper, but limited to the FHD panel option.

In europe you see the 3070 Ti QHD being sold in the same store as a 3080 8GB FHD 360Hz... The 3070Ti is on average 400€ cheaper. It's a lot.

Makes little sense to me.
