CLEVO Z170 + BGA1440 when turn off it reboot

-OT-

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Got Clevo P771DM-G with GPU P3000, RAM Kingston 2400 16GB x2, all drives removed. Trying to change CPU from 6700K to QTJ1. Used Dsanke bios with 128G description as undrestood this only got support for BGA1440. Also modified original one 1.05.15 with CoffeTime (ME disabled, all options, ME lower than 11.8). Tried with one RAM stick in every socket. Every time when booting got only black screen. All checked bios got microcode for 6700K but only with original one it normally works. With Dsanke it is no difference 6700K or QTJ1.

RAM got in JEDEC:

DDR4-2400 CL14-14-14 @1.2V
DDR4-2133 CL13-13-13 @1.2V

Does someone got similar situation?

Now trying with other ME versions.

Searched for similar problem but no luck.

Used bios 1.06.13 P7xxDM3_ME_Disabled from @runix18. Topic:

It's working but turning off doesn't. When turn off after few seconds computer starting.

  • -OT- changed the title to CLEVO Z170 + BGA1440 when turn off it reboot

Because you flashed a bios for P775DM3. You need another bios from danke for P771DM.

You can try this, and thank dsanke for it.

Hello, I made a post about having the mutant CPU to work with P775TM1 but I'm losing video signal... I can hear the windows sound effects, the CPU is detected but no displays.

When I insert back the original i7 8700 CPU, I get video output... I don't know what's wrong... I used CoffeeTime 0.99 to install the patches + EA revised microcodes.

Funny thing, back then I accidentally flashed a P870TM bios from dsanke (idk how) and yes the mutant CPU worked and I also had video output.

So if I understand corectly you took the original TM bios and moded it with Cofeetime? If that is so, thats why it did not work. Like dsanke said on his own repository, clevo bioses are not like desktop bioses. Disabling ME in the bios with cofeetime is not sufficient to completly disable ME (that is why you have a black screen). You need a bios specialy made for TM by dsanke, bios that I do not have.

I have found a repository from a user called supermarsx, and from what I understand he mirrored dsanke repository. That is where I found this bios you can try. I dunno if it has me disabled or not (you can check with cofeetime). If the me is disabled, this bios will be your best bet.

Hello. I used this bios, it doesn't work with my CPU. 0511 and 0729 do not work. Laptop does 2 seconds power then shutdowns.

The ME is newer than the CoffeTime patch but it's a consumer one and ME isn't disabled. For the P870TM one, it's the same version as the CoffeTime one and it's disabled.

But the P870TM bios from Dsanke worked... If someone has the knowledge to know how this worked, let me know

P870 has a different bios driver module (nvdgpu.dxe) maybe that's why. Nevertheless you would have had only 8x of PCIE lanes to the GPU as P870 is a sli version and the PCIE lanes for the GPU are split in 2.

As for your problem, try to disable the ME with Coffetime on the bios that I attached, maybe it will work.

Go corporate and then disable. See how it goes. Unfortunately this things are not an exact science, you have to try until it works... or not.

I'm telling this because the ME version is newer than what's on CoffeeTime. It's 11.8.8 and not 11.8.7.

Okay bios flash successfully.

I7 8700 works.

Xeon E-2286M doesn't.

Used the bios from supermarsx

Added EA codes for the existing microcodes.

Added Clevo fix automatic shutdown

Added BGA1440 support

11.8.7 Corporate ME + Disabled ME

Still nothing. It does the 60s power then shutdowns. No activity on the SSD, no bios screen.

Mine case still is not closed, because problem with system boot or install or black screen after bios options change. No way to start system or install new one. Every time BSOD. Changed boot option but at all it doesn't change anything. Flashed, checked flash. Maybe @runix18 you got bios from Z370 modded to Z170 P7xxDM?

With P7xxDM3 bios I can boot system, now impossible

After a lot of digging found many bioses modified by Dsanke and the hardest one is get with BGA1440 support for DM. Modify by CoffeTime as described by @runix18 doesn't work. It need more digging. Probably modules change.

Great to see you @SuperMG. Got question could you share your bios with working PCIe 3.0 for Clevo P570? Because still nothing. I sended software to save at PM. Attached also here.
