GTX980M Black part

Hi everyone, I bought a GTX980M, as this one in the picture, however, should I take out the black part that is around the main chip?(The one I highlighted in red) Or should I leave it there? I just want to make sure the gpu gets cooled properly

No, I have the same on P3000, P5200 and RTX 3000.

This is an insulating tape. Most heatsinks have copper for the core. The core has some electronic parts around it that they might come in contact with the copper heatsink and short or even destroy the GPU itself. Leave it as is. For the record 980m used to have problems with the vrms, not the GPU core.
