schmendrik Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago i wanted to buy a lg gram a long time, but the main thing that held me back is the very high minimum brightness of its screen. every year they keep using the same matte IPS screens with a minimum of 30cd/m (NBC reviews). since im using my laptop often in bed, thats a bummer and a no go. is there maybe any way to reduce this, i read about the advanced bios settings, is there an option for this? probably not, or a custom firmware or software to reduce the brightness even more? until this day a hve no clue why LG is doing this. there is no plausible reason. IPS displays can go as low es 2cd/m like seen with different Thinkpads for example.
John Ratsey Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I've not noticed any settings for screen brightness during my occasional visits to the advanced BIOS settings. I think you have an unusual requirement. The maximum brightness of LG screens is usually fairly bright so widening the brightness range would require either more steps in the brightness adjustment (I've just counted 10 on my gram 17) or increasing the size of each change. Either of these wouldn't be welcomed by most users.
