jmitchell852 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Just got a new laptop with 32GB RAM and I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep thermals in check during long sessions. After about an hour of use the fans kick in pretty hard and I'm seeing temps around 85-90C under load. Is this normal for a high-spec laptop or should I be looking at repasting or adjusting fan curves? How you are managing heat on the machines!
loopster Posted 39 minutes ago Posted 39 minutes ago Sounds like normal behaviour to me. Without knowing any specific brand or model, modern machines typically fully utilize the max. thermal envelope available to them -under load, that is- and will downclock the CPU as appropriate when they reach a certain temperature threshold.
