Good Evening Ladies and Gents,

Tonights inquiry is focused around the plausibility of repairing a Dell P2715Qt 4K monitor that I have had for a while.

Its been sitting in a closet for a while since I moved to my new residence but towards the end of its service it would on occasion simply not turn on and sometimes had issues detecting input from one of my PC's. At the time I was using an mDP cable but before moving it stopped turning on altogether.

I re-tested tonight and it did come back on, detected display. Obviously excited, I formally connected it again and back to not turning on.

I suspect the power supply may have died? I will attempt to take it apart tomorrow afternoon to get to it but in the mean time, it seems that the PSU is hard to source right now. Linked below:

Does anyone have better google-fu skills than I? I cant seem to find many options for sourcing a replacement, I only found 1 and it came out to be 90 USD

Will post pictures tomorrow when I open her up

Thanks!

@Reciever Hello, in such cases, it is better to look for by the part number that is indicated on the block board, its may be suitable from other models, for example from U2715H, so you will have a better chance anyway.

I did not immediately notice that the message is quite old, did you manage to fix the problem in the end and find a spare part or was it something else?

Sorry was also tied up with work. Nah I didn't find the part that I suspected was the issue for a reasonable price. I believe it was binned by my family when they re-organized the garage. Was a little bummed but they needed the space for something else.

After not finding the part I was thinking of just getting a controller board in a similar manner like people do when salvaging a laptop panel but again the family binned it :(

Monitors are difficult to repair because even for new models it can be extremely difficult to find the necessary part and correctly diagnose what is the cause of the problem, so do not regret much that everything ended like this, you could just lose money.

Very true, I did sooth my heart at some point with an LG C2 (open box) so Im not losing any sleep. I just dont like sending things to a landfill if it cant be helped :)

I think you will also be happy with your new LG C2 model, we often tend to get attached to things and sometimes it can be really difficult to just trust and start using something new.
