P870dm-g failed bios update

Hi, 

So finally I tried to update the bios to upgrade the CPU (for a 9600kf).

I said tried because now I have a giant brick (power button ok, fans spin but no screen. I have a 1070msi card updated to the dsnake vbios). 

Now, I have a CH341B programmer and the motherboard naked. 

 

My question is, when I have tried to update via usb, I have renamed the coffee lake refresh p870dm.rom bios to BIOS.bin to keep the dsnake instructions. Is this correct? It does matter if the bios is flashed as .rom or .bin?

 

@runix18, you suggested me to flash the may version, but I don't know if it's this (the last posted in the OP in the nbr archive).

And God... They were paid with bolts... If I failed the flash with the programmer, I'm gona make the bios acces mod...

EDIT: also, the i5 9600kf haven't arrived, but this bios should work on a 6600k, no?

Ok, lets see if I can help you.

First of all use this files only:

- dsanke TM ported may version / or dsanke 2021 original bios MOD

- Neo programer for flashing with CH341B programmer.

 

It does not matter if the bios is flashed as .rom or .bin when flashing with programmer.

You say that you failed the flash...what exactly happened?

 

It will also work with a 6600k.

Well, the update run successful, but the screen don't turn on after the hard reboot. Only the power button and the fans work. I tried to resset the cmos, but nothing.

Programmer should work. When I flashed the BIOS of mine, it bricked just like yours. I used my programmer and everything worked well.

Don't worry about doing a BIOS access mod unless you plan to do some extreme stuff. I know its annoying to take the whole laptop apart, but I've only needed to access the BIOS chip once, and that was to unbrick my motherboard.

Not sure if you are interested, but I plan on testing a display cable for the N173HHE-G32 1080p 120hz screen. I'll have results somewhat soon once I do some heatsink mods 😉

(I can't find software to actually show its said panel, but its 120hz and works!)

The cable was also really wacky, there's a lot of tension because it's twisted into a loop, and I will need to modify the plastic panel that covers the edges a bit, but I'll do that tommorow.

BTW, you both need the MXM mod do you? The laptop is working great with clevo 1080.

From what I understand they can also go for 3080 with TM ported dsanke bios.

Yes!!! A ton of work, but 10 points for Clevo's build quality. I've disassembled many laptops, and this is the only one that didn't seem like it was going to break at any moment.

I will wait a while. The 1070 is scoring 19000 points on 1080 graphics score in firestrike, not near a 3080, but by now...

Hi there, I had a problem with my P870DM-G that I miserably failed updating the BIOS, but that now it is fixed with a p870tm-g BIOS I modified with Coffee Time, but not sure if will works or not yet. I found encouraging your upgrade up to the 9900k, so I wished to do the same and upgrade from my 6700k sooner or later. Can you please share again a copy of the modded BIOS update because your previous link does not work... Did you update also EC and EC2? Well, I noticed the motherboard now is a P870TM-G so will need also different ECs. Thank you for any tips.

Thank you for your message and the link. Unfortunately, I do not speak Chinese and I have problems to create the Baidu account needed that requires a Chinese telephone number, I guess. Can you please pass me the file in another way?
