Road to Vostok

I don't usually get excited about games this early in their development lifecycle but this one feels different. It may even warrant a topic on its own.

https://roadtovostok.com/

"Road to Vostok is a hardcore single-player survival game set in a post-apocalyptic border zone between Finland and Russia. Survive, loot, plan and prepare your way across the Border Zone and enter the Vostok."

What's most impressive is that so far all the development was done by one guy.

There is already a small playable demo on Steam and I have to say it really hits all the right spots. It looks great, movement just feels right, not too fast, not too clunky. The guns sound good and even the AI looks promising. (hit F1 in game to activate NPC spawner). Hitting shots is satisfying. I spent about 2 hours messing with all the guns and even with this early AI, I keep getting killed from time to time.

Check it out, share your thoughts.

I was looking at this project on YouTube for a while.

Really impressive especially that ia made from just one guy! Until now he looks determined to complete it. Hope he succeeds, we need indie development right now when every big game developer is only recycling ideeas

Damn this is very impressive for a one-person-operation... I wish there was multiplayer, I like survival games quite a lot, but "surviving with friends" takes it to the next level. I'll still check it out, thanks for the tip @cucubits

I'm on the other side of this one. There's so many multiplayer games like this, I'm excited to have a single player focused one.

I hear you. My pet peeve is Epic. To this day I still don't have an account there and I'm proud of this fact.

Steam, gog and uplay (ugh, for FarCry).
