Yes SLI flat cable is connected and 2nd power cable is connected. Also tried disconnecting both and 1 at a time from the slave GTX 1070. Also switched cards from slave to master and both cards work in master slot and both cards don't work in slave slot. Thats why when I got the 1080 I thought it was a bad card till I switched it to master and it is working great

And I don't know about the Clevo's but I thought using 2 different cards was O.K.

But I am only using 2 different cards because I was Lucky enough to get a GTX 1080 by mistake when I orderd a GTX 1070

You will never SLI two different cards. You need to disconnect the SLI cable between them and after that the 1070 will properly install.

Yeah, I tried removing the SLI cable and it still wouldn't install. I was hoping maybe reflashing the stock BIOS with both cards installed might do the trick but it is starting to look like I will have to flash the modded dsanke bios and I just am not ready to disassemble this machine yet, its just too new for me to go that rout

Thanks for the reply and looking out

I have to ask is there a BIOS that can be installed without tearing down the pc, it's just too new for me and just want to run it with SLI enabled

I am not ready to tear it down to the MOBO yet maybe if a need arises and I have to. But until then I'll run it as is. HWInfo sees the GTX 1070 but it is stuck at 3D Video Controller.

You can try flash with -ftp method as per dsanke`s instructions, but keep in mind that if that fails you will have to flash with a programmer in the end.

Thanks, I tried a CMOS reset and removed the SLI ribbon. This is why I wanted 2 of the same cards. I don't know if getting the 1080 was a benefit or not, now I still need to get another card, maybe I just should have gone for a 3080 but then the heatsinks.

So how can I follow dsanke`s instructions? I checked his posts on Win-Raid forums but not sure which one and don't know about a translation tool but for google translate that s not working properly

SoFar the only problem was a loose screw imbedded in the heatsinh fins and a small bracket plate that came unwelded from the heatsink. I can't really complain about it, there is no telling when it happened! The box had a small dent probably from USPS but this damage could have been from the factory back in the day, maybe on a manic Monday or the day after Thanksgiving or New Years, everybody knows how those days go. All in all I am not disappointed!

This damage or missing parts are not a big problem! The heatsink is the best there is with the right modifications for the P870xx series with air cooling. Check out my results in the P870TM thread, you can see how well this cools!!!....These heatsinks are practically no longer available. Also not at AliExpress. Have fun with it:-)

How much was your total cost so far?

and what are the full specs?

O.K. I have an update to what this is costing so far and still have a Long Way to Go

GTX 1080 MXM                $357.62
GTX 1070 MXM                $374.30
GTX 1070\1080 MXM       $374.30
Intel i7-6700K                   $102.87
16GB Memory Clevo x2    $116.23
Clevo P870DM3-G           $548.75
TOTAL------------------$1,874.07

The GTX 1070\1080 MXM was a mistake by the seller. I ordered a 1070 and he sent me a 1080.

I tossed around sending it back and got too nervous about the shipping out a good working card and what I might get in return, seems like anything is possible. So I saw the GTX 1080 MXM   $357.62 on ebay and just ordered it. I just should have ordered a RTX 2080 in the first place. And then there is the CPU which eventually I will want to go i9-9900k. If he would have just sent the 1070 instead of the 1080 I could have sat on it for a while with SLI and been content. (for a while)

what temperature u have with one 1080 and vapor chamber ? because ive see lots of 1070-1080 die for too much overheating. maybe they had the single air heatsink.

for nvidia driver to get installed after dsanke bios just install geforce now and it will install the latest driver just fine. at least it was that way with my clevo.

Here's 2 scores 2nd. https://www.3dmark.com/spy/36002374

and 1st. https://www.3dmark.com/spy/34961440. The 2nd has lower temps because I polished the heatsink contact areas with Noxon metal polish. Nice and shiny now. I was surprised at the difference and happy I put in the elbow grease.

OK here is an update, https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/89728068

just now and speccy temps during the bench, fans on full
