serpro69
Just got a Dell XPS 15 9510 from Amazon. Anyone else owns this machine? I have a few questions. 1. Is this space between lid and body by design (see attachment)? I don't have this on an older XPS 15 9550, but I suspect it might be intentional, so want to check if anyone else has seen smth similar or knows if this is an issue or not. I can see smth similar on a pic from this review https://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-XPS-15-9510-Review-Multimedia-Laptop-convinces-with-new-OLED-Panel.554277.0.html , but maybe not as accentuated ? Just wondering if this is "normal" or I should return it. 2. Not related to the laptop itself, but rather purchasing on Amazon. Do I understand correctly, that I get warranty directly from Amazon (it was sold by Amazon directly), and not from Dell? Should I bother trying to transfer ownership? (Never bought a laptop on Amazon before, so I have no idea how this works) Spoiler GitHub Currently and formerly owned laptops (specs below): Serenity -> Dell Precision 5560 N-1 -> Dell Precision 5560 (my lady's) Razor Crest -> Lenovo ThinkPad P16 (work) Millenium Falcon -> Dell Precision 5530 (work) Axiom -> Lenovo ThinkPad P52 (work) Moldy Crow -> Dell XPS 15 9550 Spoiler Senenity / N-1: Dell Precision 5560 i7-11800H CPU 1x32 GB DDR4 2,666 MHz 512 GB SSD NVIDIA T1200 FHD+ 1920x1200 PopOS 22.04 Millenium Falcon: Dell Precision 5530 i9-8950HK CPU 2x16 GB DDR4 2,666 MHz 1 TB SSD NVIDIA Quadro P2000 UHD 3840x2160 Ubuntu 22.04 / Windows 10 LTSC
astrohip
I had an XPS 15 9550 (still have it, actually, just stored away). Similar case. My current XPS (17 9710) fits a little snugger. 1 XPS 17, 64GB RAM, 2 4TB SSD
serpro69
Thanks @astrohip! Yeah, I figured this might be a common thing and probably not worth it to go through return/replace process since replacement will likely be quite similar. Just wanted to confirm if that was actually common, which it seems that it is based on your comment and the photo from review I linked above. Doesn't seem like there are a lot of owners of recent (2021/22) XPS models here on the forums. I wonder if it might be worth it to merge this thread with the one you made for XPS 17 9710, and have one thread for both 15 and 17" variants.
