Netflix and Disney plus don't always have 4K HDR with Atmos 7.1. The bitrate of those services are also a lot lower. Not to mention a lot of movies simply don't exist on either of them. Older films or foreign language films can be hard to find on any streaming service. The final thing is I can still watch all my films even with no internet connection.

Maybe you guys have different viewing habits to me then. I tend not to watch the same film multiple times so i just delete things after watching.

I've got about 12TB of storage for plex. Do you just never delete content you've watched or something?

I loved Malcom in the middle. I think now that I'm a lot older than when I originally watched it Lois seems less neurotic and appreciate why she acts like she does. Hal is awesome too. Such a good show.

Virgin Media 1G download 50mbps upload 3 Google Wifi 1 Netgear 8 port gigabit switch DS420+ Synology NAS. Intel Nuc i3 running ubuntu server and kubernetes. Use the NUC for plex, sonarr, radarr, bazarr, grafana, influxdb, sabnzbd, jackett transmission and bitwarden as well as a valheim server. All running in docker on kubernetes with Persistent volumes set up on the NAS and ingress controllers for accessing it all. The kubernetes setup is a bit overkill since i don't have any plans on running as a multi node cluster but i wanted to learn it so this was the best way.

I feel like this is more around planned obsolescence and/or forcing prices of models with more ram to ect to be more profitable for the manufacturer. If the ram is soldered if you want 32GB you have to buy the upgrade from dell or whoever or even worse the 32GB option might mean you also have to have the model with a RTX 3080 instead of a 3070 or a 4k screen instead of a 1080p ect. It's all about squeezing maximum profit from the purchase. I honestly doubt user replaceable ram adds anything to thickness at all. It's just user hostile for the sake of it.

Everyone, its time to decide our brand!
ratchetnclank replied to Reciever's topic in Internal Announcement Discussion
efgxt.net I don't think any of the other options are any good to be honest and i think just a new brand name for our community is a better idea. -
I could understand if you thought the gameplay was meh(thats completely subjective) but the graphics are objectively great. The ray traced lighting looks excellent and the art style is great. Also the character animations and graphical fidelity of the characters such as judy/panam and Johnny are probably the best in any game released.

What phone are you daily driving currently?
ratchetnclank replied to Katja's topic in Mobile Devices & Gadgets
Google Pixel 6 pro. I like the Google software experience and don't tend to use my phone much except taking pictures/ some web browsing and a couple of apps. Don't do any phone games or anything. -
Spiderman: Into the spiderverse Really good soundtrack and animation. I really enjoyed it.

What would you like to buy, but probably won't.
ratchetnclank replied to Custom90gt's topic in Off-Topic
I really want a Sony Alpha 7 III Camera but have other priorities at the moment I probably wont. -
I use windows 11. I dislike the removal of the right click on the taskbar to bring up task manager but apart from that it works. The settings menu is kinda shit but i can find my way around. It works well enough for me not to care tbh. I'd go linux fully if gaming was better on linux. Hopefully with the steam deck being a thing it might get better.

I'm not a huge petrol head as you could probably tell by my car it's just a cheap runabout which is super reliable and tbh i like it. I appreciate a nice car but i don't need one. It's a 2010 Mazda 2 sport 1.5 petrol

My main hobbies besides the obvious of computers and gaming are Photography and Cooking, spent a long time improving at this and think that I've got pretty good at it. Watch a lot of stuff on YouTube for tips and trick especially J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, recently been trying to get good a bread baking specifically. I also code but not so much in my spare time recently as doing full time at work takes the shine off it a bit. Not exactly a hobby but I love to learn about engineering stuff too, videos on how rockets/planes/buildings/road whatever bit of machinery etc are created and how challenges were overcome.

Anyone still using Windows Mobile (Pocket PCs)?
ratchetnclank replied to ssj92's topic in Mobile Devices & Gadgets
I used to have an Sony Xperia X1. I loved that thing, loved the flip out keyboard. Always wanted the HTC HD2 as well but couldn't afford it at the time. After that though i moved on to Android. -
