It's so revolutionary that my Alienware Area 51m decided to time travel and steal this tech from the future.

Anyone here know anything about dolby vision and sony TVS?
ratchetnclank replied to ryan's topic in Off-Topic
Youtube doesn't do Dolby Vision at all. Everything on Youtube is HDR10/HDR10+ Google will only use royalty free for the mass amounts of video they serve. Hence their push for AV1 instead of HEVC/h265.- 13 replies

I watched Senna (2010) the documentary about Ayrton Senna. It's such a good documentary both in style and subject matter. I really enjoyed it.

This song just has so much energy in it. Can't get enough of it.

I've taken up baking sourdough now. Took a couple of attempts to start getting the ratios down and working with the high hydration doughs but made this loaf last weekend.

It would be great to have Valve creating a desktop OS alternative with a company wanting to provide a good financial backing to a true desktop linux. Canonical has Ubuntu but i feel the desktop version isn't great these days as they have shifted more focus to enterprise. Red hat has fedora which while good and stable i'd much prefer an arch based like valve are doing and hopefully with a "gaming" focused OS it will see more developers wanting to support linux or at least wanting support via proton for their games.

Hey thanks for the reply. 1) It shows even in BIOS,Safe mode and windows recovery screens. So definitely something with the hardware. 2) 120hz, 240hz and anything inbetween and the lines remain. I've also tried reseating the power cable for the display but the issue remains. I think you could be right about the cable but it is odd that switching to a low refresh and back makes it work. I think i'm going to have to bite the bullet and try and source a new display panel.

I'm getting an issue which started a few weeks back where i have 3 horizontal black lines across the bottom of the display. It's not an issue with the graphics card since they don't display on an external monitor only on the internal display. I also rolled back graphics drivers versions to a version 2-3 months ago to make sure and the issue still occurred. I was working around the issue as i could drop the display from it's native 1920x1080 300hz to 60hz and the lines would disappear. I can then set back to 300hz and all would be fine again. That stopped working recently and i've now had to create a profile for 30hz and set it to that and back to 300hz for them to disappear. Anyone ever come across something like this before? My first thought was a the panel is faulty but it seemingly does work at 300hz if i do the trick mentioned above. If anyone wants/needs pictures i'll get them uploaded.

need help on making a script to set services to manual.
ratchetnclank replied to raptorddd's topic in General Discussion
In the line with fax. Replace those with any services you want disabled. -
I've seen the original many times. Whether you agree or not 2049 is a noir film the story is classic noir with theme of existentialism, femme fatales ect. It may not be as dark and gloomy in visuals but that is only part of noir films.

Dell support assist. That just updated itself yesterday and re-enabled the service i previously disabled. It then proceeded to cause issues with lssas.exe (the windows local security process) causing the RAM usage of the service to steadily climb to over 20GB all the while forcing system interrupts every few seconds causing my machine to hang. Spent 2 hours this morning trying to figure out the cause. Dell and their software. It's always a bug ridden mess.

I really enjoyed Blade Runner 2049, it's world is just as bleak and it does have the noir aesthetic and themes. The film is paced similar to the first in that it's a slow burn. The only thing it didn't really need was deckards appearance in the film but i don't mind it too much. The cinematography in it too is just amazing. So it is definitely noir.

The Batman. It was very average. Fell apart in the 3rd act with the need to have too much action and raising the stakes to saving the city.

ratchetnclank replied to raptorddd's topic in General Discussion
Save the following in a .ps1 file for powershell and run it, replace with the services you wish to disable. #requires -RunAsAdministrator # comma seperated list of service names to set to manual $servicestodisable = "Fax","GamingServicesNet" # loop through each service and set to manual and stop the service. Foreach ($service in $servicestodisable) { $s = Get-service $service $s | Set-service -StartupType Manual $s | stop-service } -
Witcher 3 Next Gen Delayed(hold the surprised gasps!)
ratchetnclank replied to Hertzian56's topic in News & Announcements
It was a free update. It's delayed due to saber interactive working on the update originally but the team working on it is based in Russia and obviously with the war on ukraine and sanctions they can no longer work on it so CDPR will need to pick it up. I believe Halk Hogon who worked on the HD texture mod pack was also involved. His texture upgrades are great and i'm sure the update will look good when it eventually arrives. I can wait for the update, it will give me another excuse for another run through at some point. -
I mean it's a demo designed to run on the consoles. There is 0 optimisation for PC because it's not even meant to be run on PC. The files are included as a demo of UE5 capabilities, someone has just exported this with 0 optimisation and run it. Epic haven't released this as a demo. This is someone exporting a "demo project" from UE5 without tweaking or optimising then saying it runs like shit.

Listening to some Jimmy Eat World. Bleed American is just such a top tier album and full of great songs.

Recently i've been enjoying making homemade pittas to have as a gyros. Don't have any photo's of that to share. Made a carbonara a few days ago which came out well. A pizza i made recently. (Yes i like pineapple on pizza... come at me!) Pasteis de nata (Portuguese Custard Tarts) Been looking at getting into more bread baking too. Really want to start making some sourdough loaves.

How's the stuttering? Has it been fixed at all? I don't really fancy playing it until it's fixed. I can deal with low framerates as long as frametimes are consistent. I can't stand the jarring of frames being incorrectly paced.

I get your drift but the npc's not featured heavily in side missions don't get anywhere near the same love and attention to detail. The whole game is rendered in realtime there is no cinematics. Photo mode simply allows you to get closer to see the details. Some panam More judy.

@ryan It's funny you say that as i took that screenshot at 1080p on my machine running it ultra with ray tracing with DLSS in quality mode.
