    I will check for shorts, but no idea what could be wrong, I've already rebuilt the whole thing with a different mainboard and the result was exactly the same. It only shuts down when the GPU is under load. I also used K5 Putty for VRAM and VRM and coils so that's not that either, especially that it sometimes shuts down the moment I start any benchmark. I have an HP K3000M laying around, gotta try it. By the way, could it be the X bracket is somehow wrong / different?

    It says "HP" in GPU-Z so it most probably has a modded BIOS. Since the 8770W doesn't have Optimus, isn't it rather risky to flash MSI vBIOS on it? I don't want to strip my M6700 to be able to reflash it and I think the BIOSes on TPU are modded already 😞 Does anyone have a stock vBIOS for the 970M 3GB model?

    I don't have a picture of the board, but it was a green PCB with MS-xxxx markings so most probably MSI. Maybe @Maks0098 knows more.

    If you can buy a working M6700 for that money I wouldn't think twice. They go for 2-3 times that in good condition. No idea why but there looks to be 10-20 HP versions (8770W) offered for sale to maybe 1 M6700, the M6700 is much more rare. The base model 1080p is TN and LVDS. I wonder how many Covets (red/orange case) of these were made.

    Just a matter of time RT will become mandatory, locking out everyone with GTX's from AAA titles...maybe even for the better? Didn't SW Outlaws already require RT?

    Perfect, saves hassle with swapping power bricks. What do I need to convert my 6700 to webcam model? Just the webcam PCB and bezel?

    Btw, what panel option is the CMN173HGE (DELL HDKPV) / monitor ID CMN1720? Also just bit the bullet and ordered the M5000M from China...I have the 210W PSU, not sure if it's enough. I've seen the new 240W one but I use my 6700 in a docking station. it works with a 210W though.

    Perfect, still undecided between a 980m or 5000m...Quadro feels more fitting and from my experience with Quadros in general, they OC great. Got the BT working in W10 on the AX210, it needed a separate BT driver 🙄

    Are the GTX980M and M5000M cards 100% drop in upgrades, or do I need to mod anything? Will Optimus and the likes remain functional?

    Bummer, anyway I've realized there are no XP drivers for it anyway so not ideal. Seems like Maxwell already is a strerch in terms of XP support.

    I just remebered I have a Zbook 15G6 with a Quadro RTX3000....apparently these are MXM. Can I pop it in the M6700?

    I think it might have something to do with CMOS clearing each time I remove the battery, the button cell must have gone flat.

    Ok, gotta check it. I just got my M6700 but I can't get it to dual boot from 2 different SSD's. Want to boot XP and W10, but no matter which I install, it wrecks the other's boot. Tried removing one drive, installing the OS on the other and vice versa but with both drives I can't boot neither. My 87xxW's both do it without issues.

    There is none in mine, the BIOS says the machine has no Bluetooth. Does the M6700 have a WLAN card whitelist like HP used to have until the 8770W?

    I've upgraded the WiFi card on my M6700 to AX210 from China, but I don't get Bluetooth. Do I need to have the BT PCB installed or is the m6700 always going to use it's original Dell BT?

    So I recently got that 8770W with a 3GB GTX 970M (looks to be MSI) card someone flashed with HP BIOS. Sadly, immediately after receiving the laptop I noticed it would shut down abruptly during any 3D benchmarks almost immediately also causing the connected power adapter to trip (LED goes off). The notebook would then reboot but the power brick needs a power cycle to work again. I only managed to finish 3DM Vantage on it while it was on battery power. The CPU/RAM are fine, tested in Prime95. There are no artifacts on screen and no warning in Windows event logs, besides a sudden power loss messages. I've tried so far: - Different motherboard, the behavior on both is identical - Different RAM - HP 200 and 230W power bricks - Different driver - Repasted the card with MX6, using K5 Pro putty on all VRAM, VRM and coils I'm starting to think it might be the vBIOS that's causing some OCP to trip. I noticed that it has some crazy power limit like 1000W (others I found on TPU were also showing 1000W so maybe this is intentional?) Could anyone here take a look at it if I upload the ROM file?

    Ok, so it kinda overrides Intel CPU spec. I installed 1866 C11's today and they work absolutely fine. Wonder if there were any modded BIOSes for these? Would be nice to push these 1866's from 1.35V to 1.5V and see if they'd do 2133.

    Interesting, so they are overclockable in the 8770W or did you re-program the SPD? At this moment the Ripjaws 1600C9 or 1866C10's seem to be the only ones available. P.s On a side note - has HP ever patched the BIOS on these machines disabling undervolting/ThrottleStop? I know for sure they did that with 8th gen onwards.

    Hi all, Does anybody know if the 8770W take 1866MHz DDR3L RAM like the G.Skill 1866MHZ CL10 Ripjaws? It has a 3840QM but planning to install a 3940XM and install 4x8GB 1866CL10's.
