I was looking at different cards. Apparently p5000 and Tesla P6 are around $200 CAD. RTX 3000 is $130. I got my Tesla M6 for $30 and I think RTX 3000 would make the most sense if the DX11 mystery gets resolved. I also tried overlocking the display. But I get eye strain for anything above 60hz. Then I used my iPhone and slow motion camera, I can see the screen is actually flickering. I also got an AX210 on the way to replace the old 6300agn. I guess right now the biggest weakness of this laptop would be the 60hz non vrr display and the 2920xm. Not sure if there is anything else worth to upgrade.

I kinda browsed around to see what cards are available. I ran across an interesting mod on ebay that there is a mxm to edp cable mod. I don’t know how much this will help with compatibility with certain cards. edit: would a m2000m + Tesla P6 work in peg?

Thank you for the registry mod! My understanding is that: SG RTX3000 only - limited to DX11 PEG M2000M + RTX 3000 = still have issues Will RTX 2060 work?

Update 2: I used NVCleanstall to install 960m GeForce driver on my m2000m. Then I used the disk method from Device Manager to install 980m driver on my Tesla M6. i just played a game of siege and it was running DX12 on my TESLA M6. Everything looked normal. Thanks again for making this mod possible. I will keep updating on how things go and any advice is appreciated. **** PS:Some interesting stuff I’ve noticed: SG Mode Intel HD 3000 + Tesla M6 = No games will launch due to directx error. Disabling HD3000 will allow games to launch but at extremely low performance. M2000M - Only works with the BIOS you provided. It’s DirectX level is (12_11). GPU-Z UEFI has a checkmark. Tesla M6 doesn’t. PEG Mode M2000M appeared to be handling all background tasks, which saves the GPU load and VRAM for Tesla M6. M18X R1 Display gives me eye faitgue. Using novideo srgb showed that the display is 6bit?(there is also a coaxial display cable that I don’t know what it is for). It uses dynamic dithering to function as 8bit. I changed it to static dithering and saved my eye fatigue.

Just a quick update that I used your m2000m VBiOS (thanks again) and now I’m able to boot with M2000M + TESLA M6. I’m testing to see if drivers work. EDIT: How do you install drivers for M2000M + TESLA M6? I used NVCLEAN Install and installed M2000M Quadro driver. TESLA M6 is still Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Thank you! Also a weird issue just happed. I used NVCleaninstall to install 980m lastest driver on Tesla M6. However, it seems like programs are only using my Intel HD 3000. Games won't launch because hd 3000 doesn't even support DX11. It doesn't appear my Tesla M6 is being used to launch games even though I've set it as the gpu for games in windows settings.

It is running at SG mode with 2920xm. I have no idea what any of those are. But truly remarkable that you were able to make Maxwell work m18x. i ran one stress test and my clocks were fine. But tesla m6 seemed to have a weird fan curve. do you think this bios would help a single RTX 3000 to work in SG mode?

I was able to boot with Tesla m6 only! Amazing work. Just curious what did you fix to make Maxwell 2 to work?

I got a dell m2000m + Chinese Tesla m6 today. This is what happened: Stock: PEG 780m SLI, Uefi enabled SG mode - m2000m stuck at Alienware logo. - 780m stuck at logo 780m + Tesla m6 = screen has a “-“ at left upper corner and nothing happens PEG - m2000m + Tesla m6 = 8 beeps PEG - m2000m = 8 beeps any advice would be appreciated!

I would love to test it on my m18x r1. I just secured a m2000m + Tesla m6. But I’m looking forward to get a 980m and rtx3000 as well. I’m curious to find out if SG would work with a single Tesla m6 if possible too?

Any hints for when this m18x r1 bios will be released? No rush ofc and I really appreciate your work.

Thank you, I can't wait for the mod. Just curious is it a BIOS mod for gpu/motherboard or is it a hardware mod? I've been following your posts and interested in upgrading my m18x r1 for a while now. So far I've seen claims of m2000m+ Telsa m6/980m but I'm not too knowledge to know how to do them except for swapping the mxm cards. I don't know what magic you are working on to make 980m sli work but that is fantastic news!

Just wondering if you are still working on the M18xR1. I currently have GTX 780M SLI. I'm planning to put M2000M in the primary slot and 980M in the secondary slot. Do you think that would work? Thank you!
