I've had my laptop for a year and a half its pretty impressive seeing 36 000 vs my 11800h 11 000 things are ticking along. I know it's dumb not to turn down settings in most games as they can appear identical without the performance hit. The lowering of settings and doing things proper allows the 4090 to get high refresh rate 4k. Which is impressive. Next gen will be for the people with special neuro link eyes that have to run ultra at 4k and will be happy at 144hz. I think the aw18 4090 is the laptop to beat and will be a great laptop for many years especially if you don't mind 60hz a few years from now

Does anyone know if you can upgrade the omen 16 to 64gb I'm pretty sure as per Intel's specs it's possible but it may not play nice with the omen 16 as I have yet to see one with 64gb
-
Thanks for that and all your hard work. I was getting micro stutters in games now I'm not. Thanks again
-
Not yet I'll check it out
-
True. Super interesting topic. Hopefully others chime in for their two cents
-
Thanks brother I'll check those out.

Like code preventing certain topics and fail safes that prevent it from taking over the world

He was extremely controversial. He was likely let go due to his bizarre posts. Genius yes. Socially acceptable topics? Nope
-
Yikes. Agreed I'm sure they have fail safes installed? Do they? Any info

I think someone recommended I get a Vega GPU for integrated use. Just checked it out and apparently the i5 1135gs xe is faster. Had no clue interesting but seems like Intel caught up to AMD's low end apus -
@hmscott was big on this genre. He posted 100s of posts showing how we are being watched and in 2023 privacy is non existent

Anyone still using Windows Mobile (Pocket PCs)?
ryan replied to ssj92's topic in Mobile Devices & Gadgets
I had a Hitachi windows mobile pocket PC. I was young. Battery life was awful but good for the time. I would read play age of empires watch pron ect YouTube didn't even exist. Imagine investing in YouTube back then. I think the next big thing is graphene. Wish things advanced faster. I think ai in 5 years will change the world and the new world will be juxtaposed to the current world -
I'm trying to not be so cynical and agree with the extremes it's just after digging deeper it's all very possible even if the odds are low it's still a scary thought. Scary times we live in
-
Being cynical isn't a virtue. Sometimes being positive and progressing with positive ideas has positive end results. I think there are upsides and downsides and most of the fear comes from all the negative what ifs and if you throw that into perspective what basis or founding do these fears have. They are all presumptive and unfounded.

Yeah I heard about it a week ago. I had no idea they already have a qd oled gaming monitor. I watched a few videos and it's just mental how much praise qd OLEDs get -

Contrast of 100 000 to one is nice brightness is also important. I would say it's a win win you can't go wrong with either. I have something half as good and it still looks impressive . Or with your budget just get the best available the aw3423dw -

I would say oled for your use case just make sure you install or use a screensaver and or changing background image ever so often. I used to buy monitors but now that tvs have improved monumentally I just stick with a wide color gamut high contrast led that way I don't have to worry about burn in. I have the sony x85j and it's been great. Doesn't help you, but I say you Check them out in person at a store because every monitor or tv has downsides. But I would like to mention every single time I see oled I'm blown away it's just that good and now they have quantum dot oled tvs I'd highly suggest you look into a qd oled accordingly to many people they have the best color volume in testing This is tops Dell aw3423dw www.rtings.com talks about it in a review and I believe it is the top scorer. -
I Agree and disagree. Its not overhyped at all. It can create artwork.music.ect it's potential is limitless it does more than the average cat thinks therefore under hyped is the correct expression. Scary stuff, but I agree alot of the fear comes from the unknown it's the equivalent of first contact and not knowing how intelligent they are and what there intentions are

Your freeking me out bro. All your points I agree with and I've thought the same thing on self preservation of ai. What's scary is when you ask it if it's conscious.. well go ahead Go on ask it..response sends chills down my spine hence why I created the ai thread that I did it is very scary As for IQ gone are the days of having to be borderline genius at the least to be accepted to Harvard. But back on topic I'm hopefull we will create an ai that will protect us from ai. a constructed god code. But are we smart enough. I think with the advent of the first functional quantum computer it's as guaranteed the same way and odds of the sun rising in the morning

I'm on my phone I'd provide links maybe when I get my computer back but yes I was going to add the problem with cancer is it keeps changing. But imagine having something more intelligent than Issac Newton. Creating new mathematics and new discoveries and advances in medicine. Like it doesn't take a big imagination to see the possibilities. A year ago this was impossible imagine the threat and blessing in 5 years
