i moved to manjaro. but i spent again 1 week of trying to install nvidia drivers. i made progress but end up stuck. in manjaro am able to use propietary drivers and it automatically installs the nvidia driver. i was facing a black sceen after a reboot but found out that i should enter TTY mode and install other kernel version then i can see everything and boot to linux. but next problem i faced was i could not change resolution using the settings in linux made my screen zoom in. couldnt fix this and gave up. i also see that i need a program for nvidia optimus to use IGPU and DGPU.

i have tried xemu long time ago was trying to play forza motorsport 1. but for my dell m4600 it was running very slow. there another emulatior called cxbx read here and choose one https://umatechnology.org/10-best-xbox-one-emulators-for-windows-pc-in-2025/

how long its been 7 days... and in those 7 days i couldnt install the nvidia drivers. 😔 other times i been trying linux lasted for less than an hour. i did learn a bit this time. ive tried zorin it has the drivers but it says server but doesnt work cause tested valley benchmark and was going 1fps. tried manually installing same issue. tried fedora i like fedora more than zorin. again tried installing many ways i couldnt. i did learn that my drivers which are legacy in order to work with the latest kernel you must patch opur drivers i followed a guide from a website called if not true then false. but i gave up. because i got lost in the steps. its so many steps and the video its hard to seen what exactly hes doing. i dont know why but i ed up with windows not going over 1.8ghz not sure what fixes it i clear bios to default install windows 7 dell disc then install windows 11.

ok so i have tried mint but only for few minutes. this time i have done a bit more research and found ubuntu,fedora and manjaro but i picked fedora. the issue is i dont have secure boot. still using the precision m4600 i was trying to install the nvidia drivers and was following a guide Secure boot and akmods sudo dnf install kmodtool akmods mokutil openssl sudo kmodgenca -a sudo mokutil --import /etc/pki/akmods/certs/public_key.der systemctl reboot the 3rd line import the key and it says it should ask to create a password at that step it gives error because i dont have secure boot. does that means i cant use fedora.?

very realistic. not sure if well get to the point of not beign able to tell apart whats ai and what is not.

thanks. thats what i have read that it gets a bit hot. have you used honeywell thermal paste.? on my m4600 it lowred by 4'C.

thats what i need the keyboard ive noticed it mentions it fits both thats why i was thinking wich parts are compatible. cpu too 2nd gen was thinking to bid a for parts laptop.

does the dell precision m4600 and m6600 have compatible parts.? how can i found out if they share the same parts.

its still amazing. i really admire all those guys that know CAD its amazing how they can create stuff. but with so many settings in CAD to make the drawing and create it.

i dont use any dell drivers. i used the ones provided by windows. and i only update some drivers with snappy driver from glenns page.

@Aaron44126yes you right but instead of a task scheduler i place it in start up folder. example C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup he can create a shortcut and edit this .bat file parameters. @trustnotwo GPU_CLOCK_50.bat

i have bricked my laptop dell m4600 installing windows it only happens when i enable in bios fastboot (i think this option skips post checks) with this on after i installed windows and once it finishes it restarts it would but it would jut be stuck on the dell logo pressing any key does nothing not even boot to bios. i had to unbricked using programmer ch341a.

i love mexico but if i had to choose between mexico and US id pick the US. hands down. i love both countries both had been my home. its so much better in the US and i was more happy there. so you are all blessed to be living on that country.
