  1. Yea, that's also what I am concern about, when it's 77W, it stabilized at ~90 degrees
  2. I just received my Precision 7680, it shows an extremely poor performance with thermal throttling. Configuration: - i9-13950HX - RTX 3500Ada I don't know if it's in a similar case as what we saw on Precision 7x70 before. I do replace the thermal paste with Honeywell 7950 thermal pad for both CPU and GPU die. - CPU throttled at ~110W (100 Celsius degree) - CPU idle temp at 70 Celsius degree. Anyone is facing a similar issue? CPU-Z looks like: Temp and package watt looks like when running CB R23 benchmark: CB R23 score:
  3. You can do that, but you also need to replace the original camm interposer. The interposer used along with the pure CAMM board is thicker than that used along with the SODIMM daughter board. You may ask the Dell Advisor to order the daughter board and interposer.
  4. Has anyone tried the new RAM spec (48GB * 2) on their 7770/7670? I thought it needs some special support in BIOS, so not sure if ours support that.
  5. It surprised me that the Precision 5680 is designed to have a removable GPU daughter board. Dell released a video 2 weeks ago:
  6. Having a quick chat with Dell sell advisor, they can order GPU board of 7x70 directly. btw, I am in Canada. Let me ask about 7x80 spare part. Update: Dell Canada can order the GPU card up to RTX 5000 Ada Gen for 7x80, and the bad news is 4090 laptop GPU is not seperately sold. I guess Dell Canada share the same store info with US. ** "this model" refers to Precision7x80, not finally confirmed by Dell that 7x70 can support Ada Generation card
  7. Is it possible to order a GPU daughter board of 7x80 from Dell? Does anyone have some experience in ordering parts from Dell directly?
  8. Hope Dell can provide a model like a combination of WD22TB4 and WD19DC, so that users can still have ability to connect 2 thunderbolt devices when the WD19DC dock connected😃
  9. Does it mean the system can accept power up to 210w with the WD19DC plugged in? My 5760/5770 meet battery drainage when the system has a high workload, good to know Dell tried to improve the power option for the 5000 series.
  10. I would say there are no stability or warranty issues. The chip is exactly the same between different models if the A3000 is installed. The only issue you will encounter is that only 3 of the 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports will work for video output in the Windows system (Linux works perfectly). The 5770/5760 models have a vapor chamber installed, which has a high heat capacity to handle the graphics card working at 115 watts. Similar to the operations that have been done in the 7770 owners' thread (modifying voltage shift for BIOS settings), the vBIOS upgrade will not cause you to encounter warranty issues. At least for me, my 5760 was exchanged by the Dell support team for a 5770 with no argument regarding the vBIOS change.
  11. Having a quick search on other forum, Someone is able to convert DGFF to M.2 connector, it looks like the right DGFF is for PCIE x8 only, that is matched what I thought. On 7550, it has 3 DGFF connectors for x16 PCIe lanes, and on 7760, it has 2 DGFF connectors for x8 lanes, can confirm 1 DGFF is responsible for x8 data transfer, and 1 DGFF is responsible for other signals handling. They must customize some pinout that it can pass through the fan PWM signal.
  12. On the old 5770, the 65W limits can be unlocked by flashing 7770's 130W vBIOS, that what I did on 5760. However, I still haven't found shared vBIOS from 7770/7670
  13. If you look into the 5570 and 5770 lines, you will find they only provided 4 vRAM chips or 6 vRAM chips, however, RTX5000 requires 8 vRAM chips. That vRAM rows take a large area on the logic board, which would be the main factor the 5680 abandoned the SODIMM memory.
  14. https://prm.dell.com/prmPub/cninv000000000663221/fsm/7780/english/GUID-95C9AA07-168A-49D7-B0FD-77EE576FD542.html This is 7780, just need to change 1 character
  15. Yes, it's thin chassis, since the GPU board is only soldered with 4 vRAM - which means 128 bitwidth -> A1000-A2000.
  16. I found they made a link for Precision 5480 but no 5580 nor 5780. Did they cancel the 15 and 17 inch 5000s😭 https://www.delltechnologies.com/asset/en-us/products/workstations/technical-support/precision-5480-spec-sheet.pdf
  17. I am looking for the vBIOS that comes with the Precision 7670/7770 to unlock the performance limit on my Precision 5770, which only has a 70W configuration in its vBIOS. I have only been able to find a vBIOS for the A3000 12G on the ThinkPad P1, but I believe that flashing it to my 5770 board may cause system errors.
  18. Dell exchanged my system and ordered a Precision 5770 for me to replace my old 5760. The vBIOS configuration on 5770 is 70Watt, I am looking for the vBIOS on Precision 7670/7770 with A3000 12G to unlock the limits on 5770. I cannot find it anywhere even on techpowerup. Is anyone willing to extract vBIOS?
  19. The new XPS 15/17 have 60Watt dGPU(including 4080), that would be a funny story if a 60Watt RTX5000Ada is on Precision 5000series
