  1. I am definitely picking up this model myself. Even though it is not upgradeable , there is always EGPU to go along with the new beast. I am still happy with my current Area 51M R2.
  2. Yup , it works with other machine. I had a MSI GT75 , and I could run both brand of GPU.
  3. Why is it that the Alienware area 51m R2 is only compatible with AMD GPU when i use external GPU. I tested the SONNET PUCK RX 5700 and a Devil Box with RX 5700 XT. When I plug in the ROG STRIX RTX 3090 , it blue screen with " DMA VIOLATION " message Update: I believe that Alienware blacklist RTX GPUs. Ran the RX 6900 XT, picture below with zero issues. GPU: Asrock RX 6900 XT LC 16GB OEM EGPU: PowerColor Devil Box PSU: SFX 850 Watts Platinum Grade
  4. Ok .. got the lcd mounted ... I used hinges from a MSI GT76. Now .. I'm going to put holes on top of the acrylic cover so the cpu and gpu can have some oxygen to breathe. Possibly I might cut out the slot so the key oard can be accessed or just keep as it is as a slide out keyboard.
  5. Yes , I used acrylic sheets. I just placed all the hardware in my desire setup and mark the spot where I would mount the standoff screws to mount all the hardware. I'm finishing up the screen installation , hopefully by mid day tomorrow. I am currently will use the 18.4" 4K display , but will use also a 17" 360hz display down the road.
  6. I might just build a square rigid aluminum frame , add handle to it and called it complete lol 😂
  7. With a noctua CPU fan, it's quiet, but I like the RGB fan .. and the rtx 3090 .. the fan noise is subtle.
  8. Not yet brother. The size is 17" x 13.5" x 2-3/4 thickness. The weight is about the same as an Alienware area 51m R2 with two power supply. 😂
  9. Well , the project I have been working on. Finally coming to a finished. I present you a full blown mobile gaming desktop. Specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte z590I Vision D Processor: intel i7-10700K RAM: Adata XPG ROG STRIX DDR4 3600MHZ ( Fubuki ) SSD: 1TB Samsung 970 m.2 Power Supply: 1U 700 Watts 80 Plus Platinum Keyboard: K65 60% Gaming Keyboard GPU: RTX 3090 OC Evangelion Edition LCD: 18.4" 4K 60hz (Driving by a 4K EDP driver board) Case: Custom Plexi-Glass .. Now the decision here .. I am set on the 18.4 because it's 4K , but on the other hand , I want a 17" with a high refresh rate. Maybe I can run both LCD lol. Decision , decisions .. Once I figured out what display I want , I will mount it on top of the case just like a laptop.
  10. Yes , got it off eBay. $750 shipped. Laptop is just 1-1/2 old .. still pristine, a virgin. Lol 😂😆😂
  11. Here is the deal I got For $750 shipped , I got the prestige R2 version with i7-10700K : 32GB 4666mhz Ram : Raid 1TB (512GB X 2) : 360HZ Screen : Dual Power Supply : and a defective RTX 2070 Super. Don't mind my X299 90% RGB Desktop Motherboard or the RTX 3090 OC Evangelion Edition on the bed hooked up to the Alienware lol. And don't mind my " building in progress... moble desktop " that is on the floor below the desktop . 😅😅 Not a bad deal BTW.
  12. I have a Sonnet Puck, RX 5700. It has in the MXM style. It fits perfectly in the MSI GT75/73. The only issue is making a heat sink for it.
  13. How does the keyboard connect to the motherboard ? Is there some type of converter ?
  14. Selling my used in excellent condition GTX 1080 GDDR5X 8GB. I am including the main heat sink only. You have to buy your own secondary VRAM heat sink. Works great. I decided to use egpu for gaming. Will accept PayPal.
  15. So far so good. The screen is working fine, and it is looking fabulous. I used an Alienware 18 LCD housing to mount the 18.4 4K lcd. I had to trim off the bottom to shrink down the size. I might have to trim the top also. I am thinking of getting aluminum L angle and border the LCD once I trim off the top. What do you guys think, and do any of you have any suggestions?
  16. I was able to buy a GT75 for $750 with i7-8850H , 32GB Ram , 500 m.2 and GTX 1080. During shipment ( USPS ) the laptop suffer major damaged to the LCD,mid frame and palm rest .. the rest was minor. The important thing was , the motherboard was not damaged. So me and the seller worked out a deal and both party was happy. The seller decided to do a partial refund of $300 , and I was satisfied. So in the the purchased end up being $450. And since I had spare parts of the GT75 laying around, I am deciding to rebuild it. I also have a 18.4 4K LCD that I have been holding on to for quit a while. I will use the 18.4 LCD instead of a 17". So I hope it comes out fine. I will start on this build today and I'll post some pictures when I get off work. Edited 07/24/22 : Installed the LCD using the same MSI 40 pin cable and mounting the LCD in the Alienware 18 housing. Next step ? Pictures:
  17. I want a price check for the following parts for a MSI GT75 GTX 1080 with Heatsink Power Module Keyboard Set: Per Key RGB Mechanical Keyboard RGB Touch Pad and PCB Module
  18. This is a neat project. I have an interest in this kind of project a long time ago. I think I should start picking it back up. 🙂
  19. Hello fellow members, new and old. I just picked up a GT83VR , with i7-6820HK with Dual 1070s for $639. Yes it's a great deal lol. My question. Is , will a 18.4" 4K LCD work in this laptop?
  20. How much was the RTX 3000? How was the performance on gaming?
  21. Hello fellow EX NBRs .. I stumble on this site and saw so many familiar names. Glad there is life after NBR.
