  3. Alright, I ordered a few thermal pads with more than 12 W/MK thermal conductivity so I should be good.

    thing is I studied my current heatsink to determine the place and thickness of each thermal pad so I think I got a pretty good idea on where each one goes,

    I made an estimate on these pictures too, yeah I know it's a bit of a mess but I Accidenttaly merged the text with the picture lol

    I also sand papered (used the smooth 3000 grit piece) the copper parts on my new heatsink slightly to smoothen them just incase.

    Actually I was kinda hoping someone posted their results first ^_^'

    I don't have the neccessary thermal pads or know how to do this.

    My specs are rtx 2080 and i9 9900k.

    I live in the uk but it seems odd that it came fast, I got a text and all saying when it'll come as well.

    I'll need a little help determining that though ^_^' , I have some thermal pads that are 12.8W/mk but not ones that are thicker than that so any guidance is appreciated.

    Yeah I meant to say clevo but these are usually my go to when it gets to looking for a clevo brand laptop and hopefully

    decide to keep the thick versions avilable (if there are any) for longer this time around cause I have a feeling that the thin ones might not cut it in the long run.

  8. Just little fun thing to start a discussion on since the CES is one month away.

    There's a bit of buzz that the rtx 4000 series for the laptops is coming around very soon with

    listings for the HP laptop cropping up with these GPUs in them.

     

    So since it's inevitable that the Clevo brand will have their laptops with RTX 4000 in them

    I'm wondering what you guys think they should do to make this laptop the best out of the bunch.

     

    Me personally I hope it's an improved version of the p775 tm1g model since it allowed both sata and m.2 drives to be used

    and only require one ac adaptor to power it up as opposed to the 2 in the latest model(which is why I skipped the laptops with the rtx 3000 series).

    BIOS shows Unknown GPU but shows the corresponding BIOS build and date.

     

    Will probably have to do the Inf mod but I will see about that in a moment and will update you guys with pictures and the cuts you have to make in the plastic to make them both fit.

     

    It's a little bit frustrating because the heatsink comes without instructions but there is one big cut you have to make and one more on the sliding shell to make it fit. And even then its a bit bent on CPU side that makes me a bit worried if its fitting freely. Hopefully thats just human error from assembly in China. But the case is back on and temps are fine so should be fine... But after this I will have to figure out the thermal pad thickness which will be a nightmare...

     

    Also, I want to let you guys know that I will be selling my old RTX 2080 for probably around 400£ if anyone is interested please let me know I am open to reasonable offers aswell, but more on that later aswell.

    About the heatsink though, was it a watercooled one by any chance?

    also would it be possible to show us a pic on the thermal pad placement on the heatsink?

    For your laptop this is what you need. select GTX1080 RTX2080 RTX3080 air heatsink. 

     

    At least you have an option. If I were to go for a 3080 I have to make my own heatsink because nobody provided a solution for the original DM p870.

    Just wondering though how good is this heatsink compared to the one that comes with the rtx 2080 mxm? does it stay cooler?

    it's hard to gauge the thermal pad layout on this thing ^_^' .

    and would Dsanke's bios (1.07.29) be compatible with the mxm?

    oh really? I assumed that since the voltage on the thing is the same if not lower than the rtx 2080 mobile, it would be fine since it wouldn't generate as much heat.

    Would be nice to to have a site that sells gpu, heatsinks and whatnot for gaming laptops rather than scan for them on aliexpress.

    Not too sure about thickness on all of them but I do know that a majority of the pads on the GPU side is 1.5 mm thick but you'll have to

    ask around for specific thickness for the other spots.
