In the meantime I reordered the 7670 with changed specs and SODIMM. ETA is now somewhere in November. 🙈😆

Yes SODIMM seems kind of live - but like on the website, also my sales rep. told me that they have an error message when selecting SODIMM at the moment, too. Hopefully this be sorted out soon.

I cancelled to get my new quote with SODIMM. Price will go up for about 8-10% I guess. But it is like it is ....

I know it sounds crazy but since I don't care anymore about shipping dates after the delays - I just cancelled my order of my 7670 and getting a new quote with changed hardware specs end of the week. Maybe I'll get it before Christmas then. 🙂

My already postponed shipping date is this friday, Sept. 2nd - but since they are still short on these SSD door performance chassis, I'm sure they will postpone it again...... Curios what happens first. Building/Shipping my 7670 or SODIMM RAM becoming available to order. 🤣

Just two questions regarding the SSD slots in general. As far as I could see on the initial pictures, Dell delivers each slot with its own heatsink - is this correct? So you could either decide to buy a SSD without heatsink and use the one shipped with the Dell Laptop, or buy a SSD with its own heatsink and you have to throw the one from Dell away, since it does not fit on an SSD with factory provided heatsink..?

On his order screen you can see he ordered 1 week after me and it proceeded very well. 1 month from ordered to received.

Same here .... Strange that a single part is causing so big delays even for so a long period for people like me, ordered on first day while the china guy already received his 7670 with the SSD door ....and he ordered 1 week after me. 😬

It mainly depends on your ordered config and if you are lucky enough to get some items which are not out of stock or sold to sb. else with higher priority. 🙂

Think it would help if there is a version without SSD-door, without SmartCard reader but with fingerprint reader.

SSD door is required if you have SmartCard or fingeprint reader? But IIRC you have fingerprint reader but no SSD door?

I asked Dell to ship the device without the SSD door, they did not agree. 🙂 In the meantime the order status is now showing as delayed and new ETA was set to Sept. 16th. 😞

Got an Update from Dell. Seems like they are waiting for "Performance with SmartCard and SSD Door". Funny as I did not really choose the SSD door, it was kind of automatically added in my configuration. I had no focus on the SSD door thing, so after my order was active, I found out that it was on my initial offer. I don't think I would have actively chosen it, so what a pitty this it is now causing the delay.... They say that they "hope" that my order will be handled with priority now. 🤣 And they will get back to me with further info....of course.

According to the pictures you can access the System SSD #1 if you have configured the SSD door. If not, you have to open up the case to get to it like you have to do when you want to access the other SSD slots #2-#4. It does not void warranty. The specs say that the systems have a device tampering detection.

I called Dell and they said that since Aug 7th (Sunday) the system is in pre-production state. Whatever that means. It seems that there is still an issue with some of the hardware parts. The Dell agent opened up a case internally to get more information. Estimated delivery is still showing up as Aug 22nd. After some hours I got note that the missing parts (plural!) shall be back in stock around Aug 20th. 🤬 They will contact me with additional information, I will update it here. @terrato @microdou Did you already contact DELL to ask about your current status?

Good specs for the P16! I just configured the P16 on the Lenovo site and it seems like 1.5k $ more expensive even with an online coupon compared to my ordered 7670. So even if the P16 is better/faster/more quiet - I am not sure if this "significant less expensive" is really reliable. Maybe one have to contact Lenovo Sales Rep. to get a better price (as it is usual from Dell).

Nothing changed yet. 😞 The proposed shipping date is still showing for tomorrow, so I will call DELL tomorrow to get an actual status....

512 GB SED, maybe that is the reason for the delay. ...or maybe not the delay, but the reason for not preponing my delivery and shipping date. 🙂
