  1. I assume you have steam? Dell officially supports Ubuntu so I would start with that and/or PoP_OS which is a distro more tailored to Laptops (plays well with Optimus) and has a package with Nvidia drivers. Steam has a large list of compatible titles you should be able to run without any effort IIRC under Linux.
  2. Have you tried running Linux with the Dell vBIOS? There were some modifications on the M4600 and aftermarket GPU's where there was success in Linux and XP but not in Windows 7/10. I dont believe it has merit here but should be simple enough to rule out as a variable?
  3. This is originally intended for embedded as I understand it? Is it possible to determine in the vBIOS if LVDS or eDP signals are possible options?
  4. Back in the OCN days when ever I shipped stuff, I liked the guiding principle of, if the shovel cant open it, its good enough to ship lol.
  5. I have been lucky enough to not have had the need for hospital in a while now *knock on wood* Glad you are back and keeping busy, theres been too much loss these past couple of years. :(
  6. Woah dude, really glad you made it back ok!
  7. Fairly interested in how this will pan out. If its bare dies it may not suffer quite as much from the higher temperatures? I know there is a sizeable crowd that cares about that sort of thing on desktops but if its reported that your laptop is running target of 95C it probably wouldnt be as easy a pill to swallow.
  8. Perhaps @Tenoroon might be able to get a look at it, lately has been dabbling into the similar arena's
  9. I even subbed the marketplace and still missed out lol cheers to the both of you! :D
  10. +1 very bad idea Replacing the fan is tricky is more ways than one. Depends on how your system constitutes all the values that make up its performance. Is the fan speed determined by percentage? RPMs? Do you have a software means of adjustment? If not, can you make a physical switch to disconnect the PWM wire? Will the system continue to operate without PWM detection? (most will) Is it completely determined by temperature? If so, will it result in slower fan speed versus cooler temperature? (most will). Can the motherboard support additional amps? What voltage is the fan I have versus the one I want to install? Not posing these questions for those interested to overcome, but they are questions that need to be considered when entertaining such a scenario. Luckily, many of those questions had been considered long before me so I was able to move the needle just a bit further in my own modifications with the Ranger.
  11. Same, I intend to build a slapstick homelab as I want to grow my IT background on the A side of things. I guess I need to get more aggressive in selling my wares :/
  12. I feel the same way, I hate driving into Dallas for my local one. Too much traffic for my tastes, maybe go in earlier on the weekend or something but after work it's a wash
  13. This looked interesting, part of MC's Black Friday deal Link here
  14. @ViktorV Please do not post 5 times consecutively. It removes visibility to other threads. Thanks!
  15. I would look to the clubs, our very own @ssj92 has a large collection of the unlocked sBIOS in the club
  16. just to add to the Microcenter deals https://www.microcenter.com/product/651403/gigabyte-g24f-2-238-full-hd-(1920-x-1080)-165hz-native-180-o-c-gaming-monitor 129 for 24" IPS 165hz 1080p panel
  17. Sounds good, glad he is fully engaged. It wasnt that long ago it looked as though he was in a very dark period of his life. 100%, Falk was always irate over details but thats what made Falk, Falk. Always appreciated his input.
  18. Found it strange that Falkentyne never made it over to this forum considering how active he used to be. I figured he was taking a break or something
  19. Very interesting, didnt expect to see an mxm module for Intel quite yet
  20. Kinda got that point in your first post. Pocketable Linux devices have been around for a while, none of them were enticing enough for me personally but perhaps the landscape has changed since I last looked closer at it.
  21. @GeekBear80 please stop double posting so often. Thanks :)
  22. Well I dont have any payments on my devices, nor do I connect any finance to my phone, I remote to my PC at home for that sort of thing. Debit and Cash takes care of all of my needs. Though others may see differently, which is fine. I didnt claim that it solves everything, just that it gets me back to AOSP feel as I had used it around the time the M7 was prominent. That with GrapheneOS puts another layer for permissions across the board even Gapps with ties to finance. You have given up, however so I guess this is a dead horse. I use my phone to surf, moderate and admin this forum. It serves me well in those regards when we have reports that quickly need attention.
  23. Naturally, its but one tool. You may have interest for this as well, though it only works on a limited set of devices. https://grapheneos.org/features I personally miss my M7, most mod-able phone I ever had. Still supported I think in those circles.
  24. I just Nova Launcher to get back to the AOSP feel of things
