I had absolute tripartite of issues with this. When Dell soft-bricked our Precision, my MSI-Titan was in service for RMA work, and Star Link internet got stuck in transfer process. Effectively leaving me without functional high-performance laptops (I still have older 10th-gen i7 Razer but that just doesn't cut it for anything for me) and without internet :- ). Fun week! Thankfully, I finished one project deadline last week, and other is next week. So this could have been absolute catastrophe but ended on good note. Super thanks to all people who escalated the issue to L3 and posted solutions here and on Dell forum.

Any owner having issue with they keyboard getting stuck-frozen? Last letter keeps repeating forever, no button reacts. Sometimes reconnecting bluetooth mouse or keyboard (on/off) solves it, otherwise just quick sleep by closing the lid and reopening. So to me it looks like driver issue, but it started happening out of nowhere, happens super frequently. Have no idea what to reinstall.

Are they? Will go check out the numbers. My wife's Blade 15 Advanced is ridiculously thin, which is just bad, so I could see the 16 one getting thicker by half centimeter. But from the video the 18 looked identical to current 17 pretty much. I will love to be proven wrong. Sorry for OT. My MSI Titan Raptor-HX can sustain 33K for 30 minutes, although it sounds like jet engine doing so. My Razer Blade on other sounds like jet engine as well, just lacks any performance whatsoever. So I hope they get onto the "loud but powerful" wagon at least :- ). My Dell 7670 at least, while not really powerful, is at least really silent imho.

Agree at all points with you. I also thought the 4th SSD was just hiding somewhere after I finally opened the chassis after 20 minutes of not trying to rip card reader at same time :- ). Kept looking around for good another 5 minutes. Still, it has 4 true SODIMM slots, which not even the Dell has (thankfully Intel ordered the Dell with 128GB CAMM for which I would never pay myself that much, it's like 3 times what 4x32GB SODIMM DDR5 costs right now). Given how thick the "performance" chassis of 7670 is, it could fit a bit more inside and likewise, no reason the Titan has to be this slim since the slab proportions don't even fit into my old 18,4" laptop bag :- ). Right now they all probably try as hard to not make it look like the old mothership class 5KG laptops, but the djinn is out of the bottle and now that the class resurfaced, I think incremental updates will over next 5 years bring it back to same level :- ). I've seen it with bicycles, cars.. it's inevitable. I am here all for it! I wonder if I tried digital nomading with this and brought it to cafe on vacation if they would call police on me. Fashion or real one.

Ah good to know, since my unit doesn't have nVidia 4xxx anyway :- ) It's Titan GT77 with 13950HX, but 3080ti. It's just funny seeing it beat my oldest Threadripper (2990WX) and come close to half the performance of my current one (3990X), or rather even 2/3 since I have to run my 3990X without SMT(/HT) to perform properly across whole software suites I use. I was positively surprised on this, esp. after the Dell 7670, which my wife will now use instead since she doesn't need to render as much. I still think the Titan could use even more robust cooling. The chassis is rather slim for what this laptop is and I liked seeing the massive vapour chamber on upcoming Razer Blade 18 (which is still way too slim and will lack in fans department instead). I kind of hoped the Titan would be 18" display too, but it looks to be absolutely identical in most way to the Alder-Lake HX one.

I have engineering sample myself for some time, and with good enough noise-cancelling headphones, it can sustain 150W+ for 30 minutes in my unit, never dropping bellow 33K in Cinebench R23 :- ). It's a thing of a magic. I'll have to ask when can one talk about everything. Might be first time in decade I find laptop a viable alternative to desktop for power users (well, noise-cancelling headphones wearing power-users, both my dog and son were scared when the test suite run...)

Thanks for the forum link! Good to see that, I'll dive into that. Not happy to see that flimsy adapter that was necessary :- )

Did anyone swapped display on this thing? I own version that features FullHD display and I would like to change to at least 2.5K with better brightness. There are no OEM panels on eBay/else directly for this model but it's generic 40-pin 17,3 screen to me.

I have somewhat odd question, any recommendations for laptop sleeve for 16" Performance-Chassis 7670? There are very few 17" sleeves in total and the 16" are mainly meant for Macbook Pro and few I bought (Thule) did not fit, there was just a few mm in corner that made them impossible to close. I would like something reasonably good looking and protective, don't mind spending up to 100 bucks. I just don't want 20 dollar neoprene crap. Even Dell has only bags/backpacks for large sizes.

Def up to 5K at least. It's not just HX and 4xxx surcharge, it's also the recent overall price inflation.

That Razer probably won't surface out until Q1, perhaps even end of it, though I will let myself be surprised. Hopefully they will finally go thicker, as did everyone else. At least two more millimeters would be barely noticeable. I have yet to run 3dSpy, I don't think I ran GPU benchmark in about 15 years :- ).

I manage semi-large render-farm and 5-6 workstations, so I am used to re-installing a lot :- ) I am just bit miffed since I installed this laptop just month ago. Windows is 15 minutes, Autodesk & Adobe suite one hour, so far all automatized, but all the plugins and their unique licencing schemes.. half a day of work.

These are of course, PCIe drives as I wrote, I don't even own any SATA m.2 anymore (since they lost their usefulness outside of external enclosures to me). The Raid option is in section that I vaguely recall as some SSD-mode with 3 options : Something, AHCI/NVME and lastly, Raid (IRS as well?). It's on that Raid. I presume I can't change this anymore without reinstalling Windows on that boot drive. (or is there a way to salvage current install? I don't plan on ever using any Raid in any form whatsover. I would like to get rid of Raid/IRS just for posterity. But simply inserting the SSD haven't done anything. I think the section in bios that lets me enable or disable m.2 slots just shown them as empty or enabled. Would it show the populated SSD in name if it was recognized? I'll open it again over the weekend, re-insert and play more in bios. Single-drive from factory set to Raid. Didn't even occur to me to check this before doing fresh install.

I know this will read like I am absolute idiot, but I've built countless workstations over the years, so I know a thing or two about PCs. And yet.. I have no idea how to make additional PCIe3 m.2 SSDs work. No setting in bios makes them visible in Windows (device manager), I am not even sure I see them in bios. The SSDs are fully working, I have enclosure on hand I tested them at before and after. Is it because the stock installation (single 1TB PCIe4 ssd) is setup as Raid ? They are fully inserted, correctly. I tried different SSDs in each of the two additional slots. Nothing happens. Honestly I am just clueless, I have no idea what to try.

18" 16:10 is absolute win for laptop :- ). Looking forward what will come of this!

I can answer for the display, as CGI artist and designer, it was crucial aspect of choice for me. I personally find the 16" 16:10 decently bigger (it's not just lot taller it's bit wider too) than the usual 15,4" 16:9 my wife is using on OLED Razer Blade 15. I find the 15,4" surprisingly tiny and this is lot more decent, more than numbers alone would tell. But when compared to my 17" 16:9 Razer Blade 17, which is identical in height but has that one inch in width, it's still a lot. But that only matters for content creation and consumption, I would say a programmer would already find them decently comparable since the height is identical and you get even higher PPI density. On quality level, OLED is simply superior in most aspects (bar special cases like flickering sensitivity). I am ok with IPS as long as it has at least some saving grace (glossy panel, FALD backlighting, better polarizer tech), but the 7770 has just 120HZ refresh rate going for it, it's very run of the mill average. With matte coating it not only has the subpar actual contrast of IPS panel, it has the subpar perceived contrast as well. I am speaking as digital artist, for me display is very crucial and others might not mind. I am personally extremely surprised they sell even FullHD 250Nit IPS panels as option too. You won't find that on 300 Dollars Chromebooks from Aliexpress. That's just fascinating option for laptop whose even cheapest version is expensive proposition. Why even offer that? For Performance/Throttling. This is problem because the main purpose of this class of laptops is expandability and performance. If absolutely performance is not required, thick Precision isn't necessary in first place and thin Precision (XPS-line) already offering interesting alternative. My desktops are 64-core Threadrippers and 56-core Dual-Xeon stations. I chose Alder-Lake HX to get the benefits of the HX desktop like performance. If Dell's cooling design throttles HX back to H-range, what is the point of even offering the HX range in them? You're paying for something you're not getting. As designer I will comment on the looks as well. I like understated and clean design, so my industry favorites are clearly Macbook Pro (M1/2-series), Dell XPS line, etc.. Dell 7670 with OLED panels has minimal display chin and has glass cover extending over bezels making for clean and smooth modern look. 7770 with the usual bezel inset and massive plastic chin makes for unattractive outdated look. I know this last opinion will not be popular among usual audience of this class of laptops, but I believe workstations should be as cleanly designed from visual stand point as possible too. I work many hours behind computer daily and I create beautiful things, I expect the machine I will be staring at to be at least somewhat attractive, function alone isn't enough for me.

What do you mean? I have 7670 in my hands, Performance Chassis and no door. I kind of forget to specify it.

I wonder if the brightness of OLED is artificially limited a bit. I have few other OLED laptops (like Razer Blade) and they are 400 NITs. I don't think there are any 500Nit ones though. Someone posted a rumor in this thread that Dell ran into issue with these particular panels so maybe this is one of those resulting tweaks. I do not find the glossy surface to be any more reflective than other glossy panels I've seen. Glossy + 350 Nits on OLED is still extremely well readable in every condition with exception of outside. And my 500 Nits Glossy IPS on different Razer Blade isn't any more readable. I don't use laptop outside at any point and I kill for glossy panels.

I meant post-repaste, but without adjusting voltages yet :- ). Did you jump straight after repasting into adjustments or did you test purely repasting alone as well? I am trying to separate the effectivness ratio of power settings vs the repaste, to make sure what was more influential. LM repaste is risky but has no impact on stability, while the power settings are a potential issue for workstation.
