I would suggest care with forcibly splitting threads. It might improve structure clarity, but would it help stimulate contributions given that some very active people here are deeply libertarian types to put it mildly ;). Depends on the thread and the people I guess. One thing I would suggest based on my initial impressions would be to trim and declutter the structure to eliminate dead sections. For instance, you split one of the AW subsections into two - seemed totally unnecessary, and there is barely any activity in either one.

Haha, appreciate the totally undue credit bro @ryan. Morally, I have been here from the very beginning, unfortunately had to drop out from the notebooktalk.net inception fray just before delivery due to unexpected heavy life commitments. Really glad @Recieverand others stepped up to the plate to save the forum. We are still a bit hard to find in google at the moment, but I'm sure this will change.

Cool, that makes more sense in terms of the 2 generations. Bro Papu mixed things up a bit this time 😉 Again, comparing laptop and desktop CPUs you lose out a lot within the same gen out of the gate, at least from 12th gen onwards. The idea of a "desktop replacement" laptop is ridiculously dead. -

I recall playing around with static voltage initially with a lot of instability as a result for some reason. The contact frame actually improved things quite a bit, so maybe worth giving this another try. The offset mode yields stable results for pure undervolting + minor E-core OC purposes at least. The problem is I need the settings to be super stable, so testing cycles are kind of slow resulting in inertia and reluctance to tweak further 🙂 -

Thanks for this. Something to try vs the simple offset method. -

Awesome! What is your current undervolt? -

If we are comparing against mobile CPUs then it's not fair lol The 12900HX is already 20% slower than the 12900KS. Still not sure where the 2 gens would come in here in this case 😉 -

OK, I am still assuming we meant to compare apples to apples (as opposed to mobile vs desktop etc) i.e. vs 2 gens back: the 14 nm i9-11900K 🙂 -

Nice, just to be clear: is that stock voltages or undervolted? -

He said the gap between the CPUs in question is 2 gens so unless there was a little math fail, we would be talking 11th vs 13th. -

10 instead of 14nm process combined with 16 new E-Cores. Ridiculed by many, without them AMD would be reigning supreme now. I guess in 13th gen they also may have further optimised the P-Cores by completely removing AVX-512 (I am not sure, just a guess on how they made space for double the E-cores and more cache). -

In that case it's probably not far off stable state, very nice. -

Impressive! Is this long-term stable (by that I mean at least 24h without issues or crashes)? -

Hmm, makes me wonder if this 12VHPWR or Nvidia. Have there also been any issues related to 12VHPWR cables from the likes of Corsair, BeQuiet, CableMod etc. Are partners forced to use this new "Nvidia standard", or will we potentially see a reversal of the "12VHPWR Only!" policy, especially on lower powered boards? -
Separate audio outputs hdmi and internal speakers
Etern4l replied to Hertzian56's topic in General Software
It should be possible in apps which have the ability to select the output audio device independently of system settings. -
You can certainly restore at it should be fine driver-wise, but the license won't work if Windows came pre-installed, as this is locked to the original motherboard.

Didn't they use almost the same connectors for the 3090 Ti? There is one regression though - the 3090 Ti connector is angled to reduce bend (on the FE). Also the connector is supposed to be industry standard, rather than Nvidia's sole invention. Perhaps something went wrong during manufacturing of Nvidia's specific adapter? The problem is that there are almost no PSUs natively supporting 12VHPWR, so we won't really know for a while. Anyway, all moot for me - no availability in these sunlit uplands, could be for the best lol -

That would make sense. Density would be another obvious factor - lower capacity modules almost surely run cooler. -

How did you catch wind of this? Sounds like an offer you couldn't refuse... 😉 Don't boards specify max power per fan header? That would eliminate worry and guesswork. -

I guess you guys WC the RAM too? 50C+ is what I get with 1.1V under load lol I am hopeful. Might take a while to get an answer. Few people run 4 DDR5 DIMMs if only because of the poor support in AL, and zero benchers I imagine 😉 -

Thanks, gl&hf. BTW I wonder if Raptor Lake also improved 4 DIMM support. Any word? -

Could you at briefly explain how you are going to use this? A quick google didn't help me 😕 It seems like this has something to do with overvolting, but I mean switching mode/frequency? Current limit is already set to Max. -
You would have thought this is some sort of free OS put together by a bunch of beginners. No, it's just a monopolistic product managed by someone who doesn't necessarily care about making an excellent quality product, but rather is pursuing this open beta test model introduced to save money on in-house testing. People are still justifiably reluctant to install feature updates. I mean I'm experiencing the issue below (not triggered by any game) a year on. I'm not sure where they are on market share, but seems like they don't worry about giving people reasons to avoid Windows.

Yep, looks like roughly the same chip with 3.3x the faster HMB2 RAM + PCie 5, and the card is going for a $11k $33k scalped introductory price. His Majesty Jensen I is just following the money, as you would. -

Ha, interesting - I can hear this too with the MEG ACE and an old battle-tested tank TT ToughPower 1200. I would bet a bit more on the board here. RAM draws relatively very little power, and AIDA is not that power hungry. Only ever happens in Aida Memtest and the system has been performing flawlessly otherwise (under heavy RAM load I think) so IDC. Def a bit weird though.
