Just nuke Defender completely and get that horrible cancer off your system. It is a resource hog that is inappropriately restrictive and interferes with use of your system.

Destroy Defender (from my OneDrive account)

If you feel compelled to have a placebo to keep you safe, ESET AV, Kasperski and Panda Free are all good options. Malwarebytes is also decent and I like the added advantage that you can close it manually and end all background services for benching.

No no, defender isn't active at all. I'm saying that my windows security service, entirely, cannot be turned on or off

image.png?ex=66c8c52e&is=66c773ae&hm=137

This is literally the services.msc properties for the service.

This means my security center doesn't open, like this:

image.png?ex=66c8bee5&is=66c76d65&hm=26c

This means I can't make a lot of changes that I should otherwise be capable of making, like disabling core isolation security so I could use the microcode update.

I found that I could use the microcode update if I turn off hyper virtualization on the BIOS level, but then I can't use some emulators properly that rely on virtualization to be on in said BIOS, and once I re-enable virtualization, the microcode updater disables itself, throws me back to microcode 104, and starts giving me the error popup on booting my PC every single time (error seen below):
image.png?ex=66c8bebc&is=66c76d3c&hm=2a2

Also this ASUS BIOS sucks and toggling virtualization on/off causes my system to crash, need to be turned off via holding power button down, then boots into BIOS safe mode upon next boot. Which is slightly annoying.

I've done sfc scannow, dcim health check restores, regedits, and all sorts of other methods to try and get the windows security service to be turned on, and it looks like the only remaining option is to do a windows reset or reinstall, which I'm flat out not willing to do.

I have a desktop now!

What I meant. If wrong settings is applied in regedit then change the value to the correct one. Maybe you have tried it before.

And regarding the added microcode in Windows,... Can be deleted in Windows so only the MC in bios will be used.

A long time ago I used a "defender switch" program to disable windows defender, but any such program I download right now just throws an error if I try to open it, saying it refuses to run because it could be a virus, and then it gets automatically deleted within a few seconds after trying this.

So I don't know how to use it anymore. I also can't use KMS tools for any purpose, even the newest one. Even the "defender exclusion" file throws the same error, and it also deletes KMS tools unpack without me ever opening it just like explained above.

So in short, I do not know how to reverse this issue. If I knew what defender switch actually DID and could manually replicate it, it'd be great, but I do not know how to do that.

Check out Sordum. Maybe you can still use the Defender Control tool v2.1. Also look in the comments section for that tool. Guides in there.

As well try free AV software and then white list needed apps/software.

Can't remember what Os and build you use.

Also check out... *WPD v1.5 RC1 [WPD is a portable app to manage your Windows 10 privacy and firewall settings, uninstall Windows apps, and decide what apps can access your information]. See what it finds enabled/Disabled.

Windows 11, whatever the latest non-insider update is.

Couldn't download from Sordum, found it from another website, while reading the readme it got deleted so I'm guessing same issue to be honest.

Sordum said on their own page that some people were reporting defender couldn't be turned back on after switching it off, so they were stopping the pushing of the program, which is probably what happened to me.

Check out WPD above and see what the software find of Enabled/Disabled services or apps. As well check same settings in O&O shutup. Both programs need same settings applied to offer correct settings.

I would ask in Sordum for some help/guidelines.

I would also try free AV software to override what Windows try to do so it can take over the control.

Yes I think installing a free AV sounds like a good idea for me at least so I have control over what runs for the time being. I'll see what shutup 10 can do for me

Edit: it doesn't have any options related to defender or security

It all falls under the "Defender" umbrella, but you are referring only to the malware part. Security Center is a GUI for Defender. My systems don't even have that. The scripts provided will wipe it out entirely. You need to be able to access it once to disable core isolation, tamper protection and all of the other trash first, then the scripts will totally remove everything except for firewall. There will be no services and no security center. I do that on all of my systems, and have been for several years now. Totally nukes it. Doesn't disable things, but physically removes them so they no longer exist and can't be re-enabled. It's awesome.

Hmm. Extra 8 pin have been already on a few boards from both AMD and Intel (Z690 Apex had 6-pin and the Z790 Apex got 8-pin). I don't see Nvidia will push this as requirements for new GPUs. Remember all the older boardsout there that will be paired with 5090, and 95% of them all don't have it. And You can't feed more power to the GPU from the PCIe Gen5 slot. More likely they will make ready for next gen less power hungry AI cards not meant for gaming. Pair two of them and you are good to go (not for gaming). Isn't that disgusting?

Also with all the modern RGB bling people want nowadays, charging of the kids tech gears and the need for fan headers with higher AMP rating, the boards need more 12v ompha than you'll get out from the old fashion 24-pin MB connector.

I can actually do this. Don’t make me do it lol. I am already trying to resist going direct die with my chip lol. 8800c38? No problem! I have built a stable profile for it. As for 6.4/4.9+HT on in a game that uses about 6% CPU usage? Done lol.

With chilled water + Direct die it’s all doable. The one thing I cannot do is 3,150 on my 4090 because it’s on air. And it’s just a turd.

EVGA Dark and ASUS Maximus and Rampage boards have had the PCIe power connector for many years. I think the intent is to help keep power delivery stable and consistent, minimizing variance and fluctuation, but not increase the power delivery.  Especially beneficial if multiple slots are occupied with a power-hungry component. Probably not any huge benefit if only one slot is used for the GPU and the rest are empty. But we also now have many NVMe and WiFi cards leeching power from PCIe with none of the slots except for the GPU filled, so it makes even more sense now.

Been doing some clearing! And my lot is almost ready for the home! Nothing but woods around me. I love it. There is one new home that was built across the street you can see in the pic, but woods to my left, woods on the right, and woods behind me.

The 1st pic is my drive way, and I have water hookup, and a culvert pipe! Electric is next, then Concrete pad for the home. The home has already been manufactured, that process took 4 months after the order was submitted for them to build it.

With chilled water + Direct die it’s all doable. The one thing I cannot do is 3,150 on my 4090 because it’s on air. And it’s just a turd.

Don't do it! You know you'll regret it! But if you DO do it, make sure to post all the results. 🤣

True on the 4090. I am sure you could hit that on mine no problem seeing as it does 3120+ on stock Vbios and stock AIO cooling. I have no idea where it would go blocked let alone chilled lol.

I know you have to be excited about this bro! Once we downsized, we sold our monster sized house and moved into a Double Wide, costs dropped by insane levels across the board. 15 years later, my lady now keeps sending me listings for "smaller houses...not as giant sized." She wants the privacy of a house and land around it again.

Looking forward to the finished place. You DID make sure it has a dedicated computer/office room for you?

Vcore load up to 1.43 seems a bit high ?

I'll have to go back in and re-check my profiles and see because 1.43 under load auto? Fixed?

That is either a lousy CPU sample or it is not tuned properly. At 59x all P and 48x all E and 52x cache my 13900KS and both 14900KF are like 1.285-1.290 Vcore. He may be running really sloppy LLC allowing the light load voltage to skyrocket. It's definitely not what one would want. My load voltagee does go to 1.430V on VCore unless I am pushing to like 61x all P core. Because I use override voltage and Level 7 LLC there is not a huge difference between my idle and load voltage.

They'll deny it, but I would not be surprised if it was a deliberate act of sabotage rather than a mistake. They are losing market share to older versions of Windows and Linux due to their filthy new cancer OS and what better way to block it than preventing users from booting into Linux when they don't want to deal with Micro$haft's garbage. They are not an honorable company and their lack of integrity is evident to anyone paying attention.

I'm not so sure bro @Mr. Fox. Because everything they touch will turn into problems

Just lovely. More bugs have popped up with this new Win11 update. This is an reminder of never pach on the patch day and rather wait at least 2-4 weeks before you try download and install so called "fixes patches" from Microsoft.

Latest Windows 11 update cripples PCs. Here's what to do if you're affected

This cumulative update for Windows 11 can slow down PCs so badly that they become unusable.

Those voltages on these chips are kinda like a rubber band almost.  We may let off the gas, and the voltage climbs to assist with the 6.2Ghz boost, or increasing ring under lite loads, if you’re hitting a 100% load the voltage drops drastically. This game looks like it doesn’t use much CPU, so It makes me think the voltages would be a little higher just because it’s a very light load. And this is the case even if we have all cores fixed to 5.9Ghz. If the voltage didn’t do this, the moment the load is reduced or per core tries to flicker a core to 6.2, or bounce the ring to 5.0Ghz, the cpu would crash. So it’s probably normal seeing high voltage in this game.

Your 4090 is really good man. I wish mine did that. Yes I have my own designated office in the new house. We got us the fanciest double wide money available lol. Ceramic title bathrooms, and Sheetrock throughout etc. Can’t wait to see it all setup. I’m ready to move! The current home is a hot box in the summer time for sure.

Yeah, you are right. While they are a corrupt bunch of evil clowns, they're incompetent and probably would struggle to execute on that. They can't even effectively manage their own messes, much less orchestrate a sinister plot of that degree of complexity.
