Since I skipped the 40 series...., I'll be in line for a 5090 (I've been saving for it). It will be my luck that I pick up a 5090 and they introduce a 5090 TI/Super later. I will be picking up the next ARC GPU, because they are fantastic when it comes to compute in video editing.

I'll go back to AMD if/when they develop another high-end GPU.

Definitely worthy having skipped a generation. The 5090 will be a monster upgrade.

I plan on picking up a Battlemage considering I liked what I saw with the A380 and A770. My nephew is still rocking the A380 I built for him but he's ready for an upgrade now. After price shopping bang:buck, he's looking at a Radeon 6800xt since they're 429.99 on Amazon now. That is insane bang:buck performance right there.

It was a feature that I didnt even have to request, as Hiew is of the same thought process. We did toy with a couple of other themes and just kind of stuck with the 2-3 up til now.

In other news, I have put in my notice with work. Lets just say things spiraled into an untenable scenario that was wildly outside of what could be justified under the current wage. While I will be acquiring a skill or two in the interim to update my resume between employment, I will have the time needed to work on a few things here that have long been on my mind.

Sometimes knowing your worth is walking away in all aspects of life especially your work life. You seem to be a really nice guy and bosses and co-workers can and will take advantage of the nice guys and hard workers. You try to follow all the proper channels to correct the issues (especially if you overall like your job),  but at a certain point enough is enough.

Hopefully you've enacted in place the means to support your self while you look for another job and you handled it properly giving your notice. A notice will sometimes give the company time to reflect on your worth and they may correct their ways both in work environment and compensation.

Good luck!

Nope, I was on the previous one. I'll definitely try this one and see if boot times improve.

While I finish fleshing out my daughter's Team Red system, I'm fighting the urge to order an open box Asrock Taichi 7900xtx white and sell the Powercolor Spectral White Edition7900xtx for more aRGB control lol....

I think I have everything ready to flash the aqua bios on mine. Love this card for the $1099 I got it for. $1200 is the most I've ever spent on a gpu (Radeon VII). I don't plan to go any higher than that anytime soon.

Anyone want to do a gpu repair? Was in windows when it went black. I'm assuming a misplaced thermal pad.

Where was the tape placed and did it cause some overheating and/or a cracking issue? Man, that does suck.

So what now? Fix it yourself? Try to get warranty repair? Send it to  Northwest Repair? Pick up an open box Asrock Taichi 7900xtx? Go with another brand? Use Integrated as punishment for the thermal tape mishap? 🙂

I think with the price of GPU's. It is worth repairing them! Even if it's a $200-$400 dollar repair. You are going to spend way more buying another 7900XTX anyways.

Anyways, check this out everyone. This DDR5 8600 with 1.400V is definitely stable. 8600@1.400v is so impossibly hard to run. Never owned a chip that can actually do this.

Just throwing a little dark humor on it. 🙂 I know that feeling when a pricey piece of electronics goes bye bye. Reminds me when I was boxing up a $1700 Surface Pro to return to amazon and accidentally dropped it shattering the screen and had to pay $400 to fix it only to then sell it off because I didn't want it and took an overall $600 hit.

Told my wife what happened after I dropped it and her response, "Nice job Thumbelina" 🤣

I find NWR and his work to be more exacting than the other popular guy when dealing with GPUs. I think he is the one who repaired @Mr. Fox's 2080ti and has decent rates.

That looks like the back of the pins on the three 8-pin power connectors, in which case the tape should have been there to prevent a short against the back plate. It may be as simple as a blown fuse. I hope so.

Tony's a straight shooter. He's who fixed the 2080 Ti FTW3 for me when I accidentally slammed the tower  down on my desk and it stopped working.  I love watching his videos. Maybe he will do a video of your GPU repair.

I would install the air cooler before sending it to him so he can do proper testing on it.

If Tony cannot fix it, nobody can. That guy is quite the wizard. Unless the GPU core is dead (not likely) he will be able to fix it for a fraction of the cost of a replacement.

The decapitation of the 14900KF that I bought from cletus-cassidy was uneventful and turned out well. Putting it on bare die dropped the CBR 23 core max by 20°C. I'll probably be able to lower the voltage further now and make it even better. (This is not the system with the chiller and 5-gallon reservoir.) I sure do like the IceMan Cooling Direct Die block so much. I'm glad I bought two of them and replaced the Supercool block. You don't even need to clean all of the black IHS sealant off. Just knock off the high spots with your fingernail, apply the liquid metal, and assemble. The stock IHS sealant makes a nice dam for the liqud metal and it does not interfere with die contact.

That is a very good SFF motherboard. Better than most ATX and E-ATX "enthusiast" motherboards. If I did not already have the MSI Z790i Edge that I bought from Brother @electrosoft I would get that one. I think they are very comparable in terms of capabilities. Both better than any 4-DIMM "enthusiast" option.

Also accurate... starting from where it matters in the video... time for us all to stop spending money on "better" brands that cost a lot and are NOT better products in terms of results.

Asrock seems to be turning a corner and really wants to be taken seriously lately. They already have the best AMD GPU board designs and like I said before that B650 HDV 2 dimmer motherboard I picked up for $74 had no problems hitting 8000+ and it actually scalled higher than my x670e Carbon wifi.

One thing I like about Jufus is he goes for bang:buck not name brand when reviewing. On the other hand, I notice when all is said and done only the creme de la creme components end up in his own personal rig. 🙂

So, I have a question. The picture I took of my gpu reading zero's, was still plugged into my monitor! I just thought the on board graphics took over. In fact when I switch the bios to the low power, gpuz only reports Raphael as my gpu. I may take everything back apart and flash everything again.

So it is using your integrated graphics to output through the discrete GPU monitor ports?

Nearly 1,700 hours of screen on time with this  2021 OLED 48” monitor now. I’m amazed by Oled still.

I’d confidently recommend any OLED monitor/TV nowadays especially.

Amazon Warehouse MSI AI1300 has arrived. Looks and smells brand new. Box was hammered a bit. If you see on the news a small domicile going all Chernobyl in Jersey later you will know it has failed spectacularly during testing....

I am using the MSI A1000 (Little dinky thing it is). I bought it from the MSI store for a pretty good price. The new car smell on these is so strong it almost smells like burned electronics lol. VERY strong smell. It had my whole

house smelling like that.

I’m amazed that I’m using this 1,000 watt baby PSU though. It has been extremely reliable, everyone was laughing at its size on here if I’m not mistaken. It powers my entire PC and cooling setup. (5) D5 pumps, (0) fans, 14900KS, Apex, and 4080 Super Suprim X. I’ve had absolutely no problems with it, even with extreme 6.1P/4.9E benching I did on my prior chip with direct die. This little thing is a beast! It’s an MSI so no complaints.

Bonus pic of my two kittens by accident. They are brother and sister. 🤣

On another note, I have to add this in. That big expensive EVGA 1300P+ unit was a screaming coil whining mess. This dinky MSI 1,000 is completely silent and surprisingly it’s a better product. No matter how large of a load or what game I am playing I have zero electrical noise when moving my mouse, or when gaming anymore. Just stability, and no noise. I put the 1300P+ in my son’s build since his RTX3060 12G doesn’t make it scream. 😎

Funny how I went from no OLEDs to my main display being OLED and 3x of my laptops have OLED displays (Acer OLED 16 AMD, Asus Vivobook Ultra 7 155h/3050 OLED, Asus Vivobook Ultra 9 185h/3050 OLED). After using this Alienware 3225QF for several weeks, looking at other displays is downright painful now how washed out they can look nevermind those nice inky blacks (I keep my computer room lights low when in use).

As for the MSI PSU, it is smaller but man it is dense and heavy lol.  They packed a lot of stuff in that little chassis. The P2 1600w in my main rig is quiet but times change so in with the new and out with the old because newer is ALWAYS better....right @Papusan ? 🤣

Adorable little cats but I'm allergic to them unfortunately. 😞
