Consistent with the last topics, my understanding was that there were three forums being set up.  I went and registered for all three, and have been periodically checking them.  Last night I tried logging into the third forum, set up by Spartan.  I couldn't log into the site last night.  Now I'm getting  a "watch your ass" warning about the site not being secure.

Has that site been taken down permanently?  Is our trio now down to two?  This site and laptopforums.net?

It does load up but was "under construction" earlier in the day. I sent a service request before that today for the following reasons. I have had a fair bit of tech problems with that site, never got confirmation email so he activated me manually and it worked but today it won't accept my UN or PW and they are not wrong I can tell you that. Still have not got any emails from them either. Idk he says to use a chrome based browser, which I usually never do I'm a firefox and variant user and to disable adblock etc hm not sure about all that. I did also try it on Opera which is a chrome based browser, still no go.  Never had those problems with this site.

Yea, i have issues with logging in there as well. Maybe a hiccup. I will monitor all three for the time being.

Yep still won't accept un, pw and email to login for 2 days now. Doesn't send an email for pw change either. Takes care of that site for me atm.

I just checked and it came right up.

Make sure to clear your cache and when you login make sure to check "remember me" That was a major hang up with Firefox for me. I also disabled ad blocking.

I do agree authentications aren't working either.

I think one of the major differences this early on is that @Hiew is a seasoned forum runner so he comes in skills ablazin' and it shows as this site is easily the most polished so far out of the three and running like a well oiled machine. I haven't had one technical hiccup yet. I've encountered a few on the other two. @Reciever is also bringing the heavy heat with a firm attachment to the core principles and ideology of notebookreview.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork.

Well I didn't do any of that disabling a few days ago hence my profile and some posts is still up there. Kind of a pain because it's not the only window I have open but I'll give it a try sometime I guess.

Update: disabled all ad blockers still nogo gonna give it a break for a while on that site.

I posted the same in laptopforums.net.  I find it really disappointing that the site won't let me login using the credentials I used when I signed up; the site does not send an email for resetting password, despite the statement to that effect otherwise.  Notebook-review.com seems to be a closed forum - closed to those not in the inner circle of NBR friends.

I can't believe both other forums are having so many registration issues.  It's actually not that hard to get a forum online and running smoothly, but some of the server side settings just need to be right and tested to make sure they work.  I guess maybe this is where some skill and experience come in.

Have had no problems with laptopforum. I think if it's not personal over at notebook-review, (which seems unlikely since he manually activated my account in the last days of nbr), it's most likely because he manually activated my account some bug seems to affect me and only a few others and I'm not sure the vbulletin tech support's giving it any more attention because of that. Well not much more I can do but check back every few days at this point.

I find using Edge resolves many issues over on the other sites for now. This translates into other site real world usage too in regards to Firefox. I've been a diehard Firefox user since inception (decades), but the last few years I've found myself having to default to Chrome or now Edge to get some sites to behave properly.

This site is working pretty much flawless Firefox or Edge.

Like I said before, a lot of this comes down to this site being run by a @Hiew with @Reciever carving out the vision in stone. I've found laptopforums.net has some of the same authentication and "sometimes you're logged in; sometimes you're not" issues.

Luckily we are afforded the luxury of using all three sites. My singular morning jump off visit while I quaff my tea has now turned into a three site sojourn.

Yeah I switched to opera for that site and it works, however opera has a built in vpn so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. I got a godaddy temporary ip block notice on waterfox but later it goes away and just get connection error, timed out etc. I have been working with spartan to get this resolved as I seem to have the most problems with the site on my default browser.  I signed up with a new account and it worked for a bit but once I tried to log back in it was trouble all over again. The feeling is that it's a godaddy firewall problem as other say they have no problems with firefox, I disable all blocker for that site w firefox still the same problems.

In those uncertain times, you didn't know who was going to emerge or be persistent. I kept advocating to hedge your bets and sign up for all three. If all three make it? Great! I visit numerous tech forums that have a lot of cross over. If one (or two) go the way of the dodo, then everyone will eventually consolidate to the last forum standing.

Most likely, traffic will uptick a bit both here and laptopforums.

I just wish the redirect page for notebookreview listed the three forums that did arise so those who punched it in after being away would at least have some idea of where to go.

According to discussion on laptopforum.net, the notebook-forum.com forum is gone for good. Sad for Spartan and folks who just lost NBR too. Hopefully we can welcome Spartan to efgxt soon.

The challenge is to get this site well up the search rankings when people look for notebookreview.com. I see there's a mention at the end of https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/did-notebookreview-com-bite-the-dust.2331577/ . The more references we can scatter around the internet the better the prospects of people finding this forum.
