Popcan
Does anyone know for sure if our CPUs in the M18 r1 and r2 are affected by the Intel ordeal? From what I found pretty much any intel CPU in the 13th and 14th gen that uses more than 65 watts is affected by this, mobile or desktop. Intel is supposed to be releasing a microcode update for the chips but that would have to pass through Dell? that means the new locked out bios would have to be used... win32asmguy
I think its entirely possible they could be effected especially if the system can sustain high TDP on the CPU and has recorded high voltages during such use. Luckily most people with these kinds of systems have a three year warranty or longer to cover any issues like this. Its a shame they are like this because even if you were to wear out a USB port from daily use you may very well need a motherboard replacement with a different CPU or GPU. Here is an article XMG made about the issue concerning laptop chips as well. I feel like they are pretty transparent for a vendor compared to most: https://www.xmg.gg/en/news-update-intel-core-cpus-laptops-stability/ 1 Desktop - 12900KS, 32GB DDR5-6400 C32, 2TB WD SN850, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 Clevo X170SM - 10900K, 32GB DDR4-2933 CL17, 4TB WD SN850X, RTX 3080 mobile, 17.3 inch FHD 144hz, System76 open source firmware, Windows 10 Pro 22H2
