When I set the BIOS settings  of my Thinkpad P16 Gen 3 to use my dedicated nVidia graphics card ONLY, my monitor switches to full brightness and the brightness controls of my laptop and Windows do not work anymore. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I tried it and it works just fine, with the battery draining faster, as expected. Maybe it's the BIOS? I'm on 1.11

Yes that's a common issue with optimus laptops, reinstalling the current dispay output drivers (in your case dGPU drivers) should do the trick

Precision M6700 : i7-3740QM | M3000M 4gb +250mhz OC vbios | 20gb DDR3 | FHD ips dreamcolor | delta fans

Zbook 17 g3 : i7-6820HQ -75mv | P3000 6gb modded imac vbios | 16gb DDR4 | FHD ips

Precision 7720 : i7-6820HQ | GTX1060 6gb, 88w OC vbios | 16gb DDR4 | (crappy) FHD ips

Zbook 17 g5 : i7-8850H, -140mv | P5200 16gb | 32gb DDR4 | FHD IPS -> attempting 4K120hz upgrade
