The maximum values recorded here were obtained with the fans running in automatic mode; with the fans set manually to maximum speed, the temperature did not exceed 72°C. The thermal pads I used aren't top-tier; I used mid-quality pads I had on hand for testing purposes. Temperatures could be improved further with better thermal pads and the necessary software fine-tuning. In my opinion, the cooler performs very well. 75°C. Unfortunately, there is still no heatsink comparable to the vapor chamber. In my system, the temperature doesn’t exceed 63°C without liquid metal . I’m only using Thermal Grizzly Duronaut, not the newer Duronaut Pro.
Selim1905 Posted September 2 Posted September 2 In my opinion, it offers excellent value for money. As I mentioned, the thermal pads are basic; I estimate that with a high-quality thermal pad and the fan at maximum speed, temperatures would stay around 65–72°C.
PorcGras Posted September 14 Posted September 14 A bit late to the party but I recommend going on Taobao and talking to the vendors there, some of them are willing to custom build one/already have one that you need. If u need more details on how to do the whole Taobao thingy just dm me, you can't directly order outside of China and need to go through a 3rd party and so on, but once u get the hang of it its really really easy 🙂, and the shipping is quite fast tbh
Scruffy Posted September 18 Posted September 18 i too saw posts here talking about that cicichen-cooler heatsink and man.... the money- value ratio is top..... to be honest more money u spent on the notebook less ull get if u sell it. my clevo p870km with rtx 3080 + 32gb ram + i7 9700k is woth less then 1000€... considering i payd 850€for the vga and for a cooler people asked like 400-600€ .... dont waste much money on this old laptops.... newer one are double the performanche with newer cpus... for example one i7 14 series is like 3 or more time powerfull then 9700k.... and consume max 65 watt... also a 5070ti mobile is 30% faster then 3080 mobile.... u can get a 14 gen cpu with 5070ti second hand for 1000 -1200€max...

Everyone knows that; the point here isn't just about having a new and better PC. Modifying these old machines is a passion. In today's devices, everything is soldered onto the motherboard. It’s like the passion for a classic car sitting in the garage.

Longevity and reliability of P775TM1 are second to none for laptops. I doubt that any current laptops do match that because of bad thermals and motherboard design. Besides, buying a new laptop with 32+GB DDR5 would be pretty expensive, so upgrading the old one with 64+GB DDR4 does make sense financially.

Yes and no, those Newer laptops are thermal trottled, also you can shunt mod those gpus tô 180w, my shunt modded 2070 IS desktop LEVEL performance, and when i Get a 3080 Will be as good as its desktop counterpart, for the CPU...true But Just slap a Q1j1 oc tô 5ghz and a watercooler 1
harkaz Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Eventually, I had a spare heatsink modified by @Developer79. Very satisfied with the result - my CPU, GPU idle temps are even better than the stock heatsink was previously for the same CPU (i9-9900K) and RTX 20xx GPU. It took me some time to add the pads and properly adjust the adapters. VRAM is may not be perfectly cooled at 100% load, which leads to 105 degrees hotspot with aggressive fan curve (100% GPU fan speed above 60 degrees). This must be related to the metal protrusions of the original/modified heatsinks being in different locations than the respective VRAM chips in RTX3080. Using thermal pads cannot fully compensate for this discrepancy. For sustained high VRAM loads, attention is needed. Not sure if the cause for 105 deg hotspot is the VRAM, as the benchmarks did not indicate throttling. No VRAM errors were detected after 1 hour of OCCT testing. Some nvlddmkm errors were fixed by disabling MPO. Furmark results:
