Ray tracing mod released for classic Doom

"Doom: Ray Traced" mod enables raytracing in almost 30 year old classic FPS game - VideoCardz.com

This mod looks really cool and runs amazingly well on my RTX 3060 laptop with DLSS set to balanced. Only NVIDIA RTX cards are supported, though the creator is hoping someone can provide support for AMD's implementation. Links to download the mod, high-quality audio files, and DLSS plugin are in the article. All you need otherwise is an original Doom.wad file.

I may have misplaced my floppy disk :classic_tongue:

Just kidding. Cool. :classic_cool:

Actually when they overhauled Halflife I thought of a lot of old games I would like to replay, like Crysis remastered.

I hope someone can do Wing Commander :classic_biggrin:

Thunderchild // Lenovo Legion Y740 17" i7-9750H rtx2080maxQ win10

RainBird // Alienware 17 (Ranger) i7-4910mq gtx860m win10LTSC

Looks like AMD support just landed a few hours ago.

I might have to try it, I have Doom on GOG.  Although my GPU's support statuses are questionable... the 320x200 resolution sounds promising for my underspecced GTX 1050 though.

A wing commander reboot would be pretty cool. I think that's what Squadron 42 was supposed to be in spirit. (Withholding a lot of comments to avoid starting up 10 pages of Star Citizen talk). Not quite the same but I really liked Everspace, waiting for Everspace 2 to come out of EA to jump on that. I've also played a little Rebel Galaxy and that seemed good the hour I played so far.

Again this is your opinion.  Doom is a classic for many people and re-experiencing this can be super fun.  People like different things, that's what makes like interesting.
