Hi! I installed a T2000 MXM card into my Dell m4800, everything is installed correctly. Temps are fine and the card is performing great. However, I have an eDP model with the UHD screen.  It currently displays from HDMI and the other ports, but the internal screen will not come on. I have checked and Optimus is not an option in my bios, and have read that the eDP motherboards don't allow it? Currently running Linux Mint. and have run out of ideas after trying out a bunch of different drivers. Can anyone help me? Do I need to try coreboot or something? Hopefully I can figure this out.

What card it is? From HP or from Aetina/Adlink? HP has eDP support on port D

I'm saying that because the M4800 has eDP support on port D. It also have the 3 backlight pins in the MXM slot like on Clevo and HP.

Oh! It is the HP version!

Hmm, if the pins are there how can I get them to output to the display? Is that a software limitation from the bios?

Did you try the RTX 3000/4000/5000 from HP too? You can find cheap 3000 ones but I don't know if it'll fit or not.

You said you can output thru HDMI, correct? What about DP?

From which HP laptop is the GPU coming from?

Zbook G6 17 (?)

Or HP MINI Z?

Can you see on the Nvidia control panel, in the Physx menu, the display ports of your card?

I think you don't know much about this laptop. You can't install MXM 3 Type B cards in the Dell M4700|M4800 because there's no space for them. Why write about something you don't know for sure? There may only be an option for the HP Z2 Mini G5.

It's from an HP Mini Z type, I don't have the funds to buy other MXM cards right now. The external display port works, but it will not display through it at startup. It will only boot through hdmi, but I can use the display port once its been booted into the os?

I know why it doesn't display on the internal screen, the card is made for desktop use only, like the X-VSION and Aetina cards. That's why you still have some output on an external display.

If you're lucky enough, your card may lack a DP_D on your vbios? Try and flash a HP ZBOOK G6 T2000 one and see how it behaves ?

If it doesn't work, then your backlight pins aren't enabled on the PCB of the card and you need the flex cable mod for the backlight or... You can do the mod by soldering on the MXM slot pins.

Hey there, not this attitude with me, okay? I'm trying to help this person and trying to get the newest RTX MXM to work in the laptops.

So far, I mainly see spam from you and message counter bumping everywhere you respond.

Once again, you don't know what you're talking about. There was no T2000 version for the ZBook G6 17, only T1000 and then RTX3000. There was a version with T2000 for the G7, but it no longer had an MXM card, or the ZBook 15 G6, and you might as well try flashing all the video BIOS options for laptops with T2000 - there aren't that many of them.

what I should try next?

You should try to reflash video BIOS for T2000 from other laptops in search of one that can output the image to the laptop's built-in display. Replacing the coreboot system BIOS will not help you.
Or downgrade to m2200/wx4150, which are guaranteed to display images on a UHD screen.
Or replace the laptop itself with a version that has an FHD screen and working Nvidia Optimus, but in the case of Linux, this is probably a bad option.
